  1. I a have 200 tdi manifold on the shelf, but was thinking of the 300 tdi direct replacement that Turbo Technics do in the UK
  2. The customer has had TD5 and gone back to 300 tdi , everyone has a different reason to own the Land Rover they want and for what ever reason he doesn't like the newer stuff, his wife has a 2015 2.2 tdci and he paid for it but doesn't drive it very often ,he just doesn't like the way the engine responses . So I think it's VNT , intercooler and set the pump up
  3. I have thought of that route but would I be able to sleep at night knowing I've charged for it , probably non
  4. But the customer is always right He want a Bigger Turbo so I must find a way
  5. Hi I have been asked by a customer to fit a 'Big Turbo' , His words I'm going to fit a full sized intercooler and silicone hoses and will need to do something with the injector pump fuelling The Question is has anyone got any sensible advice as what to fit and where to buy it from . Cheers Jon
  6. Hi It was my 90, security was it was parked on Private land some 1/4 of a mile off the road, Gates locked and could not be seen from the road, footpath, bridleway , So the only way they knew it was there was being where they shouldn't be, That said I know only to well the dangers and should have done more
  7. Thanks for the answer, I'm using up parts kicking around, I have fitted a 200tdi disco engine and box into a 90 but used the disco gearbox crossmember and welded in the engine mounts so the whole lot sits in the chassis forward of a defender set up, it means pas pipes, coolant and intercooler pipes exhaust down pipe all fit without mods It's just the gearstick in the middle of the seatbox, I was going to fabricate a tunnel and then mod a disco centre console to fit but I will try ashcrofts kit that should put the gearstick back I the right place, Then if that all works I have used a shed load of parts that would normally be chucked and spend a lot less money than usual putting a 200 In a 90
  8. Can anyone answer a question because its to late in the day for me to phone Ashcrofts up They do a conversion that lets a discovery R380 moref into a defender box without having to strip the box and change shafts. Question is does anyone know if this kit fits a Discovery LT77 so you end up with a defender gear stick sat on top and working
  9. Check compression on the cylinders, possible head gasket or burnt out valve ? If the misfire is worse on one cylinder swap the plugs and leads around one at a time to see if the misfire moves if it does you have a faulty lead or plug if it stays the same fault will be in the dissy, or engine. Change the condenser they give unusual running faults that get worse when it's all hot or been running a while and then perfect again the next morning when it's cold
  10. Q plates have been phased out, you will now get an age related plate which depends on the parts you have used, hence why Gigglepin have challenge trucks on new reg because the truck started with a new chassis, That said I can see nothing wrong with Q plates it is only other peoples perception and like most things that change in the motor industry is driven by the insurance companys, If they had there way cars and that means everything on the Uk roads would be factory standard And that will be a very sad day if they ever win that fight
  11. Before starting make sure your partner is on the same song sheet cause losing you for hours and hours to you new love will test things to the max, Not That I Haven't Been There Before ........................................................ And have a clear view of the standard you want to achieve and Stick to it , cutting corners will only wind you up later
  12. Richards Chassis are very good and well worth the price , I have done the job in 2 very long days But I did make sure I have everything I thought I'd need before starting and did have a telehandler to lift the body off in one piece . DIY on the drive a week to 10 days and you'll need help to lift the body panels ( rear tub, bulkhead ) off if you taking it apart in manageable sizes.
  13. Sorry to be a dome munger, I've do a few now where the top hose has blown and everyone has ended up needing the head off for a gasket or worse another head, You said you have just done the head, was it new or a recon or secondhand , and did you use good quality parts, head bolts are use once items etc it can all make a difference . If you court it early and it didn't get that hot it may not be the reason you have a problem,
  14. Oil level, sounds like the first move is to change the oil if it's very dark red almost black and smells burnt most likely clutch packs in the box have given up fresh oil will help for a while. There is no dipstick on a D2 just a level plug at the front of the autobox sump pan, level needs to be checked with engine running box in neutral, wear eardefenders while your under there . A new filter for the box is also a great thing to do as there very rarely get changed but sump pan needs to come off and it's a messy job not hard just messy
  15. Hi, I have been running a short housing R380 behind a 200TDi in a 90 for about 8 years now and don't do high milage in it but and on my 4 clutch now , the centre plates either slip or brake up. Not worked it out yet and I know it's not my driving style as my 110 I have done over 250,000 on the same clutch. Stalling the engine with the clutch will make things worse for you Defo replace the spigit bush and the pivot ball when you have it all out and the other thing is the pin that fits between slave cylinder and clutch fork if you can get one as they are a different length to the other transmission set up's on landy's
