  1. Standard lead free cylinder head supplied 28th July 1994 to Aintree Offroad Centre. FridaT
  2. All our cylinder heads have an identification number stamped on the top surface next to the thermostat housing. If you find/quote the number I can check our records and advise whether standard lead free or performance lead free, to whom and when supplied. FridaT Turner Engineering
  3. They just used the TD blocks, not TD pistons. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  4. The campaign needs your help and support. In short, if you want independent garages to survive sign up to the campaign. If the Brussel bureaucrats have their way we will all be dependent upon main dealer garages. For further information read through this website and how you can help and sign the online petition. This is very important to all of us. http://www.r2rc.co.uk/landing/index.htm FridaT
  5. Yes they can be refurbished. Any competent fuel injection specialist such as Watson Diesel in Wimbledon for example should be able to do this for you FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  6. I am not aware LR ever did and in any case LR have not had stock of this engine type for some time. However, yes it can be done as we have had a 200TDI engine exchanged some years ago with a 300TDI head. Whether it ran properly I don't know. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  7. Western, that is news to us. Turner Engineering only fit 200TDI heads on 200TDI engines. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  8. Rear oil seals for the 2.25 5mb, 2.5, TD, TDI and including 300TDI - ensure it is green and most importantly stamped with Dowty as mentioned above. There are some very similar looking replacement seals about and unfortunately now LR is owned by Tata we have found that these seals have started to appear in genuine LR packets and gasket sets. These seals are poor quality and carry a high risk of failure. If you compare the 300TDI rear oil seal run with the original Dowty rear oil seal it is actually 4 - 5mm further out. You can work out for yourselves what the end result would be when fitting one of those. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  9. 16L - 300TDI Defender 18 - 19 - 20 - 21 - 22 - 23L - all Discovery 300TDI engines. Minor differences would be EGR and auto/manual type. Basic engines are all the same. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  10. Assuming mainland - £20 + vat
  11. The 200TDI flywheel has an extra slot because the timing tool goes in in a different place. Ie you need the proper 200TDI flywheel to set the timing. If you need one, we have a good used one. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  12. Rocker shafts usually break because of contact between the valves and the piston(s). Check the valve timing. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  13. AE are original equipment piston supplier for: 2.25 petrol & diesel 2.5 petrol, diesel & TD V8 engines There probably are a few more but the engine type would not be part of our range. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  14. Turbo diesel original equipment pistons are AE Hepolite. Cracket pistons are due to combustion problems caused by overheating and/or faulty fuel injection equipment. FridaT
  15. HRC 2880 is an early type head with two internal fuel galleries. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  16. Jim The Land Rover genuine 300TDI cylinder heads were manufactured in Brazil. There is a replacement head manufactured in Argentina but the quality is poor. Spanish replacement heads are of excellent quality. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  17. Black smoke = too much fuel or not enough air. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  18. Factory remanufactured engines have a number stamped on them. There is always a possibility that the cylinder block casting was new at some stage. It would not have an engine number stamped on it. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  19. Sorry but not all the information is correct. The front covers on the Sherpa 2.5n/a diesel are indeed different from the Land rover applicaiton (flimsy aluminium as opposed to solid). Only the camshaft and crankshaft gear are the same. Tensioner, timing belt (LBU1200) and idler gear are different. Evans Halshaw or similar stock these parts. Fuel injection pumps also have different identification numbers. and are calibrated differently. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  20. Not quite correct: 200TDI Discovery _______________12L 200TDI Range Rover _____________14L Engine number should be stamped on the block casting above the side cover plate where the fuel lift pump is fitted (same place as on a 300TDI) FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  21. Jim the pistons we use are KS original equipment. FridaT PS I have sent you a pm.
  22. Agree with all but no 3 as 020 oversize pistons are available. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  23. What people who carry out this conversion should be aware off is that parts such as cylinder heads, front covers and manifolds have not been available as new parts for some considerable time. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  24. Valve timing is identical in the Lr application 2.5D &TD. Both engine types share the same camshaft equipment. Block is different (turbo take off/main bearing housings), pistons, fuel injection pump, manifolds etc. Some late 2.5 diesel engines were built with turbo diesel blocks. Bolting a turbo onto an engine built with n/a pistons will not work in the longterm. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
  25. The answer is no. FridaT www.turner-engineering.co.uk
