  1. have a p38 n reg,the abs pump decided to stay on last night,come this mornin,no brakes unless you pump them.pump not working at all.checked fuses,relays,nothing.have traction control,abs,and red light on perminantly on dash board but no fault code?does this mean a new pump?advise sought.thanks
  2. soundd from the bottom half of engine,pretty certain its the ends.you can hear it on tickover and also when you pull away,but increase the revs to 800 the noise dissappears.i changed the main shells about 4 months ago but didnt do the front one by the oil filter.also didnt change the conrod shells,(was told there was no need)so im doing the works this time.
  3. hello boyz n girls,i own a p38 with 118.000 on clock n reg auto 4.6 petrol,the time has come to change the big ends and mains as i have knocking on acceleration.now i know you are supposed to take the front off to get at the bolt by the oil filter to release the crankcase holder(dont know what they called).is there any short cut to get bolt out.i havent got time to play to much as i need car back on road asap.also the tourqe settings for conrod bolts and crank would be helpfull.i have them for a 3.9 but not certain they are the same for 4.6.the oil i intend to use is 15/40 semi synthetic,is this any good.thanks for replys. ps it only knocks on acceleration from 500-800 rpm,i suppose its more like a rumble than a knock.
  4. when reversing the mirrors go into auto mode,how do you turn them off,i have done it before but cant remmber.
  5. i own a p38 for my sins with 117000 on the clock,i am getting 13 mpg out of it around town is that about right????
  6. hot or cold it doesnt matter,its only when i pullaway then dissapears
  7. advise sought please,i own a p38 with 116000 miles on clock.on pulling away you hear a knocking sound under load,it then stops when you hit 15-20mph.i changed the main bearings,decatted it,but noise still there.i have now read that it could be a detonation problem,ie,spark knock.are p38s fitted with an egr valve and if so where would i find it.oil and leads and spark plugs changed 8 weeks ago.any help !!!!ps,engine 4.6 thanks
  8. also thinking about cutting the cats out aswell,but hoe will this affect the ommisions on mot,cause i have a rumbling sound when i pull off .after that it sounds fine thanks

  10. hello mate ad the same problem on mine i found out that a valve was closed and that stopped it from pumping up,clear the eas fault as described then it should go up .when it does take the air filter off the compresser and spray a little wd40 into comp,let it run for about 5 mins then put filter back on .that will rectify sticking valve,its the same problem i had with mine you can ring me if you want 07886904887
  11. have a p39 n reg more or less every other day i have to reset it as it comes up with window not set.its only the drivers side that seems to do it .any thoughts!!!

  13. own a p38 n reg,as i dont drive the car mon to friday,i come to start it when i finish work on friday and it just about turns over.i then leave it on tickover for 10-15 mins,turn it off then go back after 1 hour,turn the key,nothing,flat as a pancake.i then get a jump,drive it for 20-25 mins and over 2 days,no problems,any ideas plz
