  1. You can't get better than the blue skies and sunshine we've got now honest gov See you all tomorrow
  2. Are these AEU2522 CV's ? What shafts can i use to connect a 24 spline shaft to the 23 spline CV ?
  3. I've got 32" simex tread with a standard Tdi (going TD5 in the near future) And a quiet driving style. Is there going to be a lot of difference in strength between Paddocks, Genuine and GKN AEU2522's ?
  4. What vehicle / years are AEU2522 from ?
  5. I'll ask my question again, what is the strongest of the standard land rover range ? I don't want to spend huge amounts of money of Ashcroft CV's, only to have them break.
  6. I made the brackets from a bit of flat bar and a bit of angle and i replace the plastic clips and ball sockets with a bit of roundbar
  7. I've read this post but it's gone straight over the top of my head I'm thinking about replacing my 10 spline early Rangy axle bits. Fitting a 24spline ARB diff and metric hubs with HD flanges. The question is, which is, and where to get the strongest standard staft / CV combo, without spending silly money on Ashcroft stuff ? I've had good results with V8 90 rear shafts so wondering what'll be good for the front Also, is there any difference between the Genuine, Paddock etc versions of the same part?
  8. I've found the two plastic bit (No. 3&4 in the pic) Do you still want them ? where abouts are you ?

  10. I went for option one, and facing back because there are lots of very tight greenlanes around here, so wanted to keep as low profile as possible
  11. I bet Mike who is snorkeless won't find it very amusing
  12. I fitted one from a rangy tailgate to the back door of my defender last week. Makes a big difference
  13. From what i've heard/seen/read it's fully open, I'm waiting for the water levels to drop a bit before i go up there, which will be one weekend in the not to distant future.
  14. Results of another unsealed drain plug I've welded over my drain plug, may get to test it out next weekend juging by the amount of rain we've had/forecast Where are the pics of said snorkel Dave ?
  15. I'm sure i've got those two bits in the shed, i'll look in the morning.
  16. Picture of the digger. a 30 ton O&K http://www.bauma-netz.com/bilder/bauma/51_1122977139_1 I'll take a picture of the bucket in the morning once it's cooled enough to be painted We've still got to make a pallet for it to go on, to be sent by the courier
  17. One of the welders in work has finished welding one exavator bucket today. It's taken him 30 hours and almost 100kg of 1.2mm coated mig wire. 9 pass multirun welds layed down with a 1000amp mig set look so nice For some reason he's taking the day off tomorow, can't think why Definitely the most impressive bit of welding i've seen B)
  18. One last job i want to do before i test my snorkel, is to raise the diesel tank breather. The problem is, how and where to locate it in / on a hardtop defender Am i right in thinking that it has to always go up from the tank ? so running it down the chassis rail and then allong and up to the snorkel wouldn't work ?
  19. Bush wires, to help keep braches off the windscreen when driving overgrown tracks
  20. At least it wasn't snowing, and two in morning whilst refiting a gearbox. then you start dreaming of a big workshop

  22. I tapped my old one out with a small hammer, and got up to about 7 tons on the press putting the new one in
  23. I recently removed all the wet clay from the bottom of the heater fan casing, this reduced the misting up quite a bit
  24. Genuine LR rubber works great, and lasts years unlike a lot of poly's i've seen
