We've got some offcuts of 90mm plate in work, (scrap from a job that was cut today) any use to you Perhaps a heavy duty switch pannel or something
Tin hat on and running
14.5" closed
22.5" open
Same front and rear.
Measured between the centre of the stud and the centre of the stud on the front
Measured between the centre of the eye and the centre of the stud on the rear
I've got a home made tool box in the back of my landy, some people call it an Edwardian chest of drawers but it's very handy. Also got a second floor to hide stuff underneath. And plenty of rubber
This is one of the possibilities for my next project
There was a rolled TD5 Disco in one of the local breakers, which went for auction and sold at £1600. But i only found out about it the day before so didn't have a chance to have a look at it
I can't see any real reason why it can't be done
I was in the same position last year and I went for a 24 spline ARB, I had 10 spline axles, so changed the hubs to metric 24 spline and fitted v8 90 shafts. I used a small cheap compressor and a home made tank for the air supply.
I've not had any trouble with the V8 90 shafts yet, with a TDI and 33" Simex, but at £15 each, i bought a spare pair incase
I ususall jack the landy up under the diff and put an axle stand under the axle tube as close to the end as possible
Only piccie i've got, the small jack is to lift the diff into possition, i use a 4ton trolley jack for the landy
Edit: found another piccie, Axle stands under the chassis rails, to allow the axle to hang free
Thanks for that, i didn't realise the secondary ports provided half the braking, i thought they were just a back up
I was going to run the flexi straight into the caliper, but it looks like i'll have to put two bits of copper in there first
I'm allready using a defender master cylinder, and slpit the pipe going to the rear of the vehicle, to use as the secondary front circuit, so it wouldn't be hard to remove, but then there will be an open hole in the calliper
My landy has a rangy front axle and twin brake pipes, I'm about to replace the flexi pipes and route longer ones allong the radius arms ( in preperation for suspension changes)
It would be a bit easier / neater to run a single pipe down each arm, so can i get rid of one of the two pipes ? Is there any advantage to the twin pipe setup ?
Anyone got any comments ?
