I'm suprised you didn't make the comment about yours being 3" longer than mine Mr Hobbit I cut my 110 down to the same overhang as 90 and used a 90 underseat tank, You should be able to fit a TD5 90 tank under the rear floor if you cut out the extra crossmember. It's something i would have done if i had a bit more time when i built it
The bar type loop seems to be a good choice
But i prefer a single central recovery point, something like a 5T pin hitch as i use straps mainly as apposed to a winch hook, which needs a master link to fit
Can anyone suggest a place to purchase half a dozen M8 rose joints from for not a lot of money, I've tried ebay but they all seem to be old money threads
The winch mount was tested today to 4 Ton, and all 16 bolts held the winch in place, no suprise really I've just got to undo them all and retorque them all once it's painted
The 4 hole centres on each foot are on a square 25mm x 30mm, barely enough room to get a socket onto the head of the bolt. Seems a bit odd to me, but as you said Bish, someone has desigined it that way for a reason so i've designed the mount with 16 holes.
It's not welded on, but i would have if the chassis wasn't galved,
It goes underneath and then up the back of the crossmember, so it's basically a big U shape
I had to use stuff that thin to keep the weight down
Funny you should mention that though, as we had a delivery of 25, 50 and 70mm in work today and i thought of you
I use spreader plates about 10" wide and the full height of the crossmember, 10mm on the outside, 12mm on the inside with two M16 8.8 grade bolts, I've have two winches pulling very hard on the hitch and it's been rock solid
I'll be interested to here what they actually are, as mine measure exactly 32" but then, i only had to wait 3 days for them
They get very noisy past 70mph seem to handle ok on wet tarmac too
B) I like the sound of that
Perhaps a range of standard length, +1", +2" with softer, standard and heavier poundages in the 3 lenghts should do most applications ?
