  1. Evening, I today attempted to replace the es9000 shocks on my 90 with some OEM Boge units however came across an issue with the top mount. It looks like the shaft is too long compared to the bush? When done up with the nut and washers (one each side, dome towards the bush) there is plenty of room for the top to slide back and forth - any ideas? Pete
  2. Hi, Over the past couple of months an oil leak has occurred, above and beyond the normal amount of oil which manages to escape! I think I've managed to track it down to a leak between the sump and the block- would this make sense? If so what would be the best sealant to use when removing it and replacing it? Thanks, Pete
  3. I haven't had any problems for about 4 months so the 90's finally decided it's time for something to go wrong! I changed the transfer box last weekend (to 1.22 ratios) and it has now developed a graunching sound when travelling at around 70 on the motorway or when going round corners in 4th with no power!!?? The sounds quite hard to describe but is periodic about every second and the period doesn't change depending on speed and feels like it's coming from under the drivers footwell. Does anyone have any ideas as I'm stumped? Thanks Pete
  4. I picked up the whole interior of a classic range rover for £80. Fitted the back bench seat in my 90 then sold the RRC front seats for £100, so they cost me -£20!! Very comfy and they tip so you can still access the battery! Pete
  5. Hey, Last year i bought a full set of 255/85/R16 KM2's to fit my 2 inch lifted 90. What I hadn't realised was that situations would change and I am now looking to do around 10000 miles a year in the 90. Clearly I don't want to waste these tyres on motorways so am looking at buying a second set of tyres for use during the week. What tyres would you recommend and what size would still look good under the lift? Thanks Pete
  6. Just replied to your for sale post Fully good condition? Pete
  7. So any LT230 box 200tdi, 300tdi, (td5?) should be able to bolt straight on? And although I have had it confirmed by the guy who rebuilt my gearbox, what would be the surefire way of ensuring a) i have a 1.4 and b) the new one is definately a 1.22 without relying on labelling? Pete
  8. Hey, After completing a 8hour marathon journey to Devon then back again I have decided that I could definitely do with a 1.222 transfer gear as I do quite a bit of motorway cruising and no towing. Would the best way to achieve this be to buy the gears and fit them into my box or buy a disco box? The disco box seems like a cheaper option but are there any limitations with regard to fitting? Thanks Pete
  9. I tried to follow him but as I was in the defender he quickly tagged on and made a sharpish exit!
  10. Just had a website hunt and now sure it is the LRX 5 door prototype!
  11. Saw this today on the bagginton roundabout- 5-door LRX? Pete
  12. They won't insure anyone under 25 online but they're fine if you give them a ring. I spoke to lee this afternoon. Pete
  13. Hey, After passing my driving test yesterday it was with trepidation I started to phone around for insurance quotes on my 1985 200tdi 90 with 2 inch lift. Quite a few quotes came in around the expected £1500-£2500 mark but then I phoned Footman James classic cars and they agreed to insure me, as the policy holder, having been a legal driver for 1 day for £790! They're classic car policy is valid for anything over 15 years old. It's third party fire and theft with restricted mileage- 4000 I think. Pretty good way to get started! Pete
  14. Hey, I was recently reading Mark Saville's 'our vehicles' entry in the most recent LRO where he talks about his trip to Holland. It explains how their club and a guy called Marco Cruz produce greenlane roadbooks for greenlane trips around the area which area also 'designed to keep speed to a minimum by suitable ambiguities in the route plans, requiring considered decisions at every turn'. Has anyone ever done something like this or what do you guys think of doing one of your local greenlane area so that people visiting from different parts of the country, or even different countries could enjoy a responsible greenlane route without causing damage? Pete
  15. Hey, As I will be venturing to Scotland for a couple of weeks this summer I am looking for some form of rear door mounted, two ring, gas cooking solution. What have other people done and where have you sourced the kit? Thanks Pete
