Well done, a dream job for a lot of people.

So if you had room to have a remote transfer box, what manual gearbox would be best to use if you wanted a good amount of power.

The new Bfg at looks good if you can wait a bit.http://www.bfgoodrich.co.uk/gb/spirit/BFGoodrich-in-live/Gravity

I'm also interested in this. There was a 130 in one of the mags done in it.

I'm liking where this build is going.

I've got 33's on my disco and drive's really well. Still pulls strong in 4th and 5th. Only time a struggle is starting on a hill if I'm towing.

Thanks, the company normally put me in purple parking in Hayes

Is that£100 each visit into the zone?

Great to here from you Jason and congratulations for the wedding. If you want a convoy of land rovers you know where we are. I have also knocked a few bits together with pallets and have had a lot of requests for more. Would be good to see what you are making. I was thinking about you the other day, having brought a defender i want to find your thread on your 110 for some great idea's. And I'm still loving my LED lights. Chris.

Thanks, I just want to get it right and do it once. I've got a disco transfer box sat in the shed but don't really want to struggle to pull off when loaded. I haven't even thought about LEZ. Its a 1995 300tdi so will affect me. That will be a good conversation with the boss.

Ok thanks. I only used 3000rpm as an example. I don't know what a rpm a Defender is at when traveling at 70mph. In my Disco with the standard gearbox and transfer box at 2000rpm I'm doing 65mph that's with 33 inch tyres.

I saw that and was going to share it. I can't remember them being that expensive.

And what's the difference between tdi and td5 box?
-
I don't do that many motorway miles. But I do about 6 trips to either Heathrow or Newbury plus a couple of trips to Devon and Wales. But while I'm at it would it be worth it? If traveling at 3000rpm it would only take it down to 2850rpm

Well I've only just brought the 130 and have driven it about 1 mile as it's not got any mot. It has been Sat in a shed for 3 years and the chap I brought it off didn't know much about it. It's got an alisport intercooler on it and I might put my performance head on it off my Disco. Is £110 plus vat worth it for 5% increase in 5th gear

After my other topic about my gearbox knocking I'm going to get it reconditioned. But while there at it Ashcroft's can fit a 0.732 5th gear ratio out of the v8 box which they say is 5% higher than the standard ratio.
So has anyone done this and is it worth it. I will be doing quite a few motorway miles in it. It's currently running 265.75.16 mtr's but I'm wanting to go to 285's at some point.
Any feedback would be great. Chris.

I might be able to do a day or two depending on work nearer the time.

Hi, Disco r380's aren't the same as defender r380's. The lever/pivot are different. You can buy a kit from Ashcroft's to change a disco box so it can be used in a defender. I don't think td5 boxes fit 300tdi's as the input shaft's are longer.
I'm going through the same thing as a need a new box for defender. So many Disco boxes around but no defender boxes.

Talking of security, some little ****s had a rummage through my passat last night. So I think I'm going to have a look at cctv before a bring my new 130 home.

What about a modular roof rack system, that comes in sections and that can be added to. Start with cross bars then joining bars all dependent on if you have 90 110 or 130 have a similar look to a roll cage. Then infill sections, side rails if wanted, quick fixings for ladder, boxes, roof tents ect.

Do we know what method thieves are using to steal alarmed defenders without it going off. a motion sensor that alerts you to movement in or around the defender by text message or an alarm in the house would be good.
New garage going up - things to remember before the builders start?

looking good. When we roller 2pack resin it's best to pour a line off it on floor then squeegee it out a bit and then roller working back bit by bit. For two reasons, One, you can keep better control on how thick you apply it and two,1a 10kg bucket full of resin can be solid in 20 minutes, so you want you want as much of it on the floor as quick as you can.
