  1. this makes me smile - why would you buy a broken windscreen?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Defender-Windscreen_W0QQitemZ150394381347QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2304342423
  2. If it wasnt so pathetic it would be funny. The world is against me - youve blocked my access via the library blah blah blah Nothing like objecting to something and backing your argument up with a load of emotional tosh
  3. Yep, I'll be there - as I had a clearout the other day so have a bit more space to fill with useless carp !
  4. if you search on my posts you will find a post with manufacturers part numbers and the defender Hardy Spicer part numbers for the prop shafts. HTH
  5. I marked up the outside of each panel, drilled the corner witha 1/2 drill bit and then used a compressed air nibbler to go around the marked area. then offered up the window, drilled the holes for the rivet holes, then once all aligned, put mastic around teh frame, offered up and riveted it in. The internal strut you refer to was removed by grinding the heads of the rivets on the top and bottom inside. If you want dimensions then I have a driver side rear panel in white sans windows if your interested
  6. i just don't get it - GBP5k and it just looks like a bodged restoration - obviously I am missing something!
  7. Thanks Ralph, I guess I will need to check if the same circuit is present in the speedo I have ! jerry
  8. ok lets try a different question! DOes the td5 fuel gauge move around a lot or is it fairly stable on a 90 as I believe the fillers and tanks are in teh same place!
  9. I have just picked up a 50th anniversary But I have a couple of issues which I need tofix, one of which is the fuel gauge needle is moving all over the place (obviously depending on where the fuel is sloshing around in the tank). I always thought there was something in the 'in tank pump' which helped to prevent this? Is there a specific item I should be looking at - or is it a case of a new tank sender unit Jerry
  10. It was even better than last time IMHO - I think they split up the agricultural bit from the LR bit a bit better - although both were interesting Got a couple of bits and pieces - but for the life of me cant remember what they were The old burger van had run out of burgers by 3.00 - Which one of you lot ate all the burgers !!! Generally my destination of choice, and certainly cant be bothered to venture any further (eg Beaulieu or Peterborough) Good day out!
  11. If anybody is interested in a basic but cheap sat nav - take a look at the below - its out of stock right now but keep looking - I bought one last week £29 selected el cheapo delivery and it arrived the next day all for an extra £2!!! Used it for a couple of days now in the defender - they seem to come in and out of stock every other day or so - but don't last long: http://ukstore.navmanstores.com/Clearance%...acked___329.htm I haven't posted in the for sale as I'm not selling them - this is more of an FYI for fellow forum users.... if mods feel it should be in for sale then please feel free to move & sorry !.
  12. damn - that means no delivery for eurocarparts swindon again today - (nazi go-kart awaits new fuel pump) Oh well 90" of fun again today - the wife will be pleased.....
  13. seen deeper icing sugar on my wifes cakes (a light dusting in GL7 then !)
  14. cheers guys - I'll report back my findings!
  15. I suspect I know the answer before I ask the question - "everywhere" But regardless here goes: I am going to look at a RR classic tomorrow, and wondered what I should be looking for in terms of known areas for corrosion - I am expecting chassis, sills, inner wings, floors, body mounts - anything else?

  17. there is something perverse about that picture, a beautifully designed historic building (gawd knows where it is mind you) with a chequerplate box on wheels dumped outside.......now if it was a classic rr or a nice series then fair enough .... ok I'll get my coat
  18. good luck ! - FWIW I agree ref taxi & pizza, but double glazing & kitchens salesmen - they are the scum of the earth anyway.
  19. what happens if you take the canvas off over the front seats, does the bit at the back work like a sail or something?
  20. The problem with all of these things is when you go to register under the small claims court you need to have the FULL address details of the buyer - now if you ask for contact details via ebay you don't get the full address details, and quite often what you get is complete BS. So then you go and ask ebay for the full address details as you wish to log a case with the small claims court - generally (twice now in my experience) your met with a wall of silence - apart from their desire to perhaps remove any bad feedback you may have received from the buyer (to which you are unable to respond under their daft new rules). SO, basically, go for the final value credit and re advertise thru conventional methods or if you must use ebay insist all bids will be cancelled unless the bidder has come to see the car first - that way you can get more proof of their details because you will want to see their insurance - which will have their address on it because youwouldnt go to see a car without driving it would you? That way you get maximum exposure, and can qualify serious bidders in or out as appropriate. Hope this helps you for the issue you have now, but don't worry long term as ebay as we know it will not be around imho within 5-10 years (they are trying to offload that magical purchase (Skype) for a fraction of the billions they paid for it, so assuming an average car ownership of 3-5 years - you may only have this pain another 2-3 times
  21. ROTFLMA - thats pretty bad - I also think the central cubby box is a star bit of engineering - looks like it was made in the blue peter workshop from inside out chequer plate and sticky tape
  22. to answer your original question - i had a similar thing, uncle les pointed me to the rear output shaft and housing - i happened to have a spare and yes it fixed the problem. The other day I was lookibng at said shaft i removed - and rolled it along the edge of a table - and yep sure enough the shaft was bent I also had another vibration - but when I went underneath to check the play in the output shafts they seemed ok when cold, but after a run and they were hot I could grab the front prop and saw movement, so I changed the front output shaft and bearing anyway - and this made a big difference
  23. ok - so im an old git (41) But I went to www.quidco.com, then looked for insurance companies giving the best cashback deal, found LV, and got a quote for my defender 90 300tdi it was GBP148, BUT I got GBP70 cashback - so my insurance fully comp was GBP70
