Havnt got a problem with electronics my Ls has an after market loom & fully mappable ECU that we fitted .Along with 2 GPS a tablet & 3 trip computers .I have a plug & play module to diagnose problems from my laptop . But why the fcuk would you want to get that involved with a diesel is all i am saying unless you are talking 5-6oo hp diesels with propane & NOZ etc

Im out of the Dark ages & live in the real world with things that work & are reliable Dont care what you say unless you have full BMW or VW technical support along with you i would never take a tweaked BMW ,VW etc engined truck to a 10 day comp acroos the other side of Europe! Foreget about the cost of buying either it would be the setting up costs to put a big modern diesel in a buggy. I looked seriously & even went to the US to see the Duramax twin turbo diesels & came back blown away by the power etc but scared ****less by the wiring & computers Spoke to VW Uk race team guys about a V10 diesel & they laughed & said good luck making that work in anything other than a VW !! Not saying it cant be done but i thought the idea of running an oil burner was reliability & running costs. As to why you would want 600hp in a challenge truck . I have around 450hp fine with 44s in mid range box but it wont spinn up all 4 in high 3rd or 4th 1km of bog in med box 4th gear is cool but 1kn in high box 4th would be better seriously too much power means at least you have it when needed & when not the engine isnt being stressed Drive my Buggy & tell me it doesnt need more power??

Maybe but what does a 500hp Diesel Brand new cost & for that matter weigh!!!!! Mind you dontvknow why i am sticking up for V8s when my blew a ring getting it of the trailer at Billing today Mind you nothing a nice new LS7 wont help chear me up UMMMMMMMMMMMM 600hp with a little playing or maybe LS9 Super charged tinkered with 900hp all for about £18k Diesel 900HP ?????

All the guys we race against have tuned tweaked etc TD5s or TDIs & to be honest on a average say 70km race day they burn around 1/3 less fuel than the Big V8s with a lot less power ! How much does it cost to modify these diesels to get 1/2 the power we get from the V8s ??

Right Mr T has just rung me & ask {as obviously i am the best }to be the drivers representative for the proposed 2011 Pheonix Heavy. Date end January 2011 Cost per vehicle {teams of 2} £350 .minimum of 8 teams required or cost will go up to cover £5600 if thats what we all want? Vehicle requirements. 1. Minimum 38" tyres. 2. Any axles. 3. Minimum of 3 winches. 4. Fridge. 5. Truck nutts. 6. Naked photo of Fluffer on all trucks He is more than happy to arrange an event for us but with a few conditions. In order of priority as i see it !! 1. He receives a deposit of £100 per vehicle by the end of August 2010 {Andy please post payment & address details}.Until he receives the required amount no more will be arranged. 2. We all seemed in earlier posts to agree of a date around end of January 2011 is this ok to most as if i say all that will never happen. Excuses of weather are not an excuse!!! yes you Rob. 3. Then in the meantime can we have suggestions from ONLY those who have sent deposits & Mr T {can you keep us informed on that please!} or who will definatley go To what type of event you would all like. I will start 1. Any winging minus 1 section! 2. The organisers decision on any cheating or rule twisting not deamed as in the spirit of the event minus whatever they think!! 3. Friday night has a night section approx 2hrs obviously a bit tamer than the daytime. 4.No pointless deep bogs yes mud but not stupid !! 5. The longer the sections the better. 6. Punches during section to ensure that all get to required points. 7. Compulsory break i think is good & must be back at check point no excuses including break downs!! 8. Support crews allowed on site but only in pit area can leave to help team but team will get a penalty?? 9. No special tasks etc. 10.Compulsory 10 pints saturday night !! What are your views on !! Stole the wifes Hummer to go to work {she was well happy i left her the Mitsubishi lol}. Outside our site a neighbour that is always moaning about noise & deliveries etc asked me to tow his Toyota Hybrid out with my Hummer lol I explained if i did then surley the extra fuel i would use to pull him out woul create more C02 thus next year the weather would be worse !! So really i would be doing him a favour if i left him surely?? Got a funny look from him but still snatched him out with a webbing strap !!!! sounded good from my cab lol

I run without a thermostat or impellor & thats what all the race guys & manufacturer advise. cant see why you would not want to circulate the water all the time if you dont you will boil the water in the block etc surely ??

Skill & how much you care about winning My mate who is self proclaimed "crew Chief" {crew of 1 } flipped when we fitted the fridge & steroe to the Buggy . "Race car mate Race Car!! what the F**k do you want a fridge in it for WEIGHT WEIGHT" Personally we do try as hard as we can to do well but at the end of the day it is for fun ,i get enough stress & SH*T at work to take it all too serious . I can see though why some teams get stressed about results etc as there buisiness /sponsorship relys on them proforming well. We also dont help that situation by turning up having a laugh / taking the tiddle & doing reasonably well at the same time Lets hope not too much money gets in the sport or it will change all that. One of my foremen race World Rally cars {£300k Build costplus support!!!} he apparantly will never win as on every comp if he does well the BIG BOYS will lodge a official complaint at £300-500 a time & he has to pay equivalent to defend it .So he just takes it up the ass & looses. Wonder what it was like in Portugal with a big prize fund at the camp at night ?? Manby is a really fun event with £1k cash prize & you would be surprised with some of the comments all over £1k & that is between "friends" so to speak Imagine what it must be like in the STates with $100k plus prizes

The winch i wanted really was the type fitted on the Armoured personel carriers that fire out the ground anchor winch up to it then automatically disengage Imagine that " yep we did Ladoga but had to get out the truck twice to re-fuel "
