many thanks for all your advice folks the starter motor did cross my mind too today - will try the glow plugs first tho and the leads. cheers

cheers guys bogmonster whats the best way to test the glow plugs? the only thing that makes me wonder about the battery is that with a jump start it started no bother so made me wonder if it was simply a prob with the battery? or would the glowplugs still be an issue? cheers! ;-)

hi guys i have had a prob with the 110 2.5 N/A diesel not starting very easily - had put it down to a battery being on the way out - so bought a new one and still found it difficult to start! after jump leading to a range rover it starts no probs - could the new battery be needing charged?? any ideas?? cheers! ;-)

have just found this thread doing a search did you find any joy with the new relay footo? my defender is doing the same thing just now - inidcators on - nothing - hazards on - one click of the relay and then nothing did you find it to be the relat after all? also how easy is it to get a replacement relay? do halfords have them? cheers

hi there i had a bad leak on my 99 RR not that long ago - a drip just to the inside of the offside wheel. turned out it was the oil cooler had split and was pumping out oil when the car was being driven and leaking so that when i parked the car it would drip down onto the road. although strippped down the front of the car - took off intercoller, grill etc and left the oil cooler sitting angled down - it never leaked overnight at all - it was then that i figured out it was only coming out when the engine was running. so replaced that and the cooler pipes and it has been fine ever since. cheers
