  1. Hi, In view of the great cause I'd like to bid £196.66 Well done on the fundraising. Cheers, Dave
  2. My sympathies are entirely with you, but : If you did take the buyer to court it would be easy to defend as ' the car was not as described '. The sale on ebay is only binding if the description is correct. The condition of a used car is always open to interpretation, especially if you haven't seen it. There are no rules as to what - fair - good - reasonable - very good - few scratches - dents - etc. means. I would guess you would be very unlikely to succeed unless your description was absolutely accurate. Even so it may be accurate to you but completely 'inaccurate' to someone else. When I last looked at ebay's terms it was only on your THIRD non buying winning bid that action was taken. There are lots of people out there falsly describing things and lots of people who win and fail to pay. I would try to forget about it and accept it is a common part of the 'ebay experience'. Good luck with the re-listing. Dave
  3. Hi, I bought a 12000 lb 'extreme terrain' winch from winch solutions on ebay, about 18 months ago. ( Roughly £220 ). I threw away the solenoid and wireless control and added an albright solenoid, up in the wing. I had to buy a wiring extension kit to enable it to reach the battery under my passenger seat. I used it very occasionally - for recovery, before buying a woodland a few months ago. I've used it weekly for the last few months to pull down / drag trees around. It's been well worth the money. It's slow but been reliable. I can go to sleep at night without worrying whether it will still be there in the morning ( which I couldn't do with a decent one ). Dave
  4. Hi, I've just bought a 39 acre woodland. It has a central track up the hill - fairly gentle slope, lots of vegetation on track. Soil is heavy red clay. I have a defender 90 on BFG mud terrains. No problem last week. After rain this w/e the last 60m ( in dark canopy with little vegetation on track ) was impossible. Tyres filled with clay. I got up with winch (attached to trees). Now two red ruts ( 265mm wide tyres ). Finally my question - What would you suggest to provide reliable traction ( as I'll be using the track frequently ). I'd like it to look fairly natural and be inexpensive. I could cut down adjacent trees to allow light in. ( Big job and probably need felling licence ). I've been thinking about red bricks / block paving ( to put in ruts). I've been thinking of tree trunks - cut to fit ruts and notched. I would like to be able to pull up trailer. Any thoughts ? As a matter of interest here is a photo of my first drive along another overgrown track where I couldn't see ground. Discovery 3 tried pulling me out - no joy. Met a local farmer with a big tractor who pulled me out. Cheers, Dave
  5. I've got Defender 90 300tdi. As its warming up thought I'd add a percentage of oil to diesel. ( For 1st time ). Start at 25% oil / 75% diesel. Just tried Sainsburys / Lidl / Tesco ( express) and Aldi. Aldi were the only one under £1 a litre - was 95p a litre. Bought 49 litres. ( only came in 1 litre bottles ). The lady in front asked if it was for my car. Cheers, Dave
  6. Hi, I fitted Cobra Monaco seats with sliding capability and fixed subframes from Exmoor Trim. (1994 Defender 90 300tdi). One subframe fitted ok and the other fitted on 3 of the 4 holes. My passenger seat has 3 bolts holding it to floor. I keep meaning to re-drill a bigger hole in the subframe. I assume the frame was 'wonky' and not the car as it doesn't fit on either side ( the good one fits both sides). Most of my car is like this ( with my measuring ) - so it's never really been a problem. The seats are great and I'd definately recommend them. Cheers, Dave
  7. Hi, I bought a 94 Defender 18 months ago from Landroverman and WOULD NOT recommend him. Loads of problems - Cylinder head warped at 3 months, hole in crossmember at 6 months, at a year had it checked over by liveridge 4x4 and loads of faults. Spent a further £3000. Classic case of buying first one I drove etc. Would rather be a nun in a prison. Cheers, Dave
  8. Cheers, The red terminal is the one 'on its own'. Won't be able to try for a couple of days - work, kids etc. I'll need to take bumper off car to get to earth terminal on winch - grrr. Cheers again, Dave
  9. Hi, I have an albright solenoid. I've seen some excellent diagrams on this forum relating to the wiring. My winch motor has 3 inputs coloured RED, BLACK and YELLOW. Which of these are A, F1 and F2 ?? I would guess the red input is A, and the yellow and black are the F1 and F2. Hope someone can help. The winch motor cheap one labelled 'extreme terrain'. The winch motor has an earth underneath to connect to battery. Cheers, Dave
  10. Many Thanks to all of you for your replies. Especially Western for the diagram. It looks like part no. ERR5259 I'll get on the case of buying one asap. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers, Davetb
  11. Hi, My first post. I've recently bought a 1994 300 TDi Defender and have loved driving for the last 2 months. First problem last week =the small pipe from bottom radiator hose ( going / coming from heater matrix ) hose was sawn through by engine ( fan belt as it turns around metal wheel at top right of engine as you look at it from front of car). Lots of coolant in a puddle under the car. I bought a new hose and replaced it. The new hose also rests against the fan belt wheel. The main Land Rover dealer in Cardiff can't tell me if there is a clip that holds it apart. I've put some cable ties to pull the small hose away from the engine towards the top radiator hose. The gap is still about 2mm - too close for my liking. Does any of this make sense & how can I solve the problem. Cheers, Dave
