  1. Did you manage to do it David? Was it easy? One of my Freelander's window regulators needs replacing, so I was wondering where you bought the regulator, price, how long it took and whether you had any tips?
  2. Thanks for the replies- very helpful. It's happened a couple more times recently. I've found that if I press the brake pedal and then release it that the lights immediately go out. I'll try giving it a good power wash and see what happens. Thanks again. You've reassured me - it may be something trivial rather than something very expensive. I love my freelander but i bought it in February and since then prices have tumbled around here (meaning I paid several thousand more than I would have if I'd bought it a few months later) and I've just had to spend over £400 having it repaired - injector failed. Wouldn't be good news if this was another expensive problem! Thanks again!
  3. Thanks for taking the time to reply! What's a testbook?
  4. I'm worried. Driving this evening (on normal roads) and the traction control and hill descent yellow warning lights came one. They both stayed lit for about 10-15 seconds and then went off. Then later they both came on again and stayed on for 30 seconds. I stopped the car and switched off the ignition, then restarted the car and they didn't light again. Then drove home another few miles without them coming on again. Is this very bad news?

    bike rack

Hey, thanks everyone. I'll take a look at the simbars and halfords ones. The one where the wheels fit into really appeals. I've looked at the website cut can't find one for the freelander. Rhys, does your pendle carrier sit on the tow bar?
  6. Hi. I'm looking to buy a bike carrier for my 2003 freelander. Has anyone got any tips/advice? This one has caught my eye - Tradekar TAKE FOUR 4 bike carrier - but I'm not sure if it will fit a freelander because of the spare wheel. If you've got a bike carrier for your freelander and if you're happy with it, please could you tell me what you've got. I don't want to spend money on a carrier and then find it doesn't fit the freelander or it's rubbish! Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone, Went to Halfords tonight to buy some oil for my 2003 TD4. The 0W40 oil was £45 for 5 litres. The 15W40 oil was about £25. The handbook suggests either - don't know what the difference is. What do type and brand of oil do you use in your TD4? How much does it cost? Steph.
  8. Thanks Blippie, I like your Dad's Army analogy - made me laugh. I think I'll start referring to the driver's door as Private Godfrey! Cheers for the info!
  9. Hi. I've had my freelander (2003) for just a couple of weeks. When I lock it (either with the remote control or from inside pressing the switch) all the doors lock and then half a second later the driver's door locks. Is this usual? Or should the driver's door lock at the same time as the others? Thanks, Steph
  10. Thanks everyone. I'll try out your suggestions and advice. I'm really loving my new Freelander. It's lovely to drive and I'm determined to look after it (I've been pretty poor at looking after my previous cars) - it's not perfect by any means (every time I look at it I seem to spot more little scratches/scuffs that I hadn't spotted when I bought it - if the sun is shining from a different direction it shows up a whole new set of scratches!) but at least I can try and not let it get any worse. I was worried about the fuel economy but I've got approximately 33.5 mpg so far with a fair amount of stop-start town driving, so I'm really chuffed. Wish I'd bought one sooner!
  11. Hi. I bought my 03 Freelander GS within the last couple of weeks, and since it's new (to me - not properly new) I am at the excited "I want to keep it clean and looking lovely and shiny" stage. I've never had a vehicle with alloy wheels before so I'm unsure how to clean them. I've bought some Autoglym "Clean Wheels" but I'm unsure whether it is suitable. It says it should only be used to lacquered alloy wheels and not unlacquered. Are the alloy wheels on the Freelander lacquered? Also, the plastic "arm" for the rear high level brake light (by the spare wheel) has lost a lot of its blackness. It has faded. Have you got a favourite product for blackening the plastic (brake light arm and bumpers)? This might sound a bit odd - I was watching a programme on cable TV this afternoon (in which Dominic Littlejohn buys scapped cars and then he and his team of mechanics repair them) and they were discussing how people use silicon sprays to blacken the bumpers and explained how using smooth peanut butter (without the nuts) is better! I don't really fancy doing that - I can imagine having problems with cats, dogs and small children licking the bumpers!
  12. Hey, that's great. Thanks to you both. Thank you so much for replying, and thanks for attaching the instructions! I'll be heading down to the local dealership to buy them tomorrow.
  13. Hi everyone. I've just bought an 03 Freelander and I'm thinking about buying genuine Land Rover mud flaps for it. Can anyone tell me if they're easy to fit? Do they just clip on or would I have to drill holes? Thanks!
