  1. Mark Thanks a lot. Yes we are talking about a Disco Series 1. Actually i was thinking to swap only the third member not the whole axle....will it work? For the weight shouldn't the Discovery diff be lighter than the Salsbury? I will be swaping the disovery MAxidrive drivetrain into the the Defender 110. I will need a longer prop shaft shouldn't the one on the disco fit which is actually an early range rover prop shaft. Thanks Jay
  2. Discos 1994 and above were 24 splines....i think rangies 92 and up were 24 splines. There should be easy to find but you will break them in no time they are only 20% stronger than the 10 spline. I have a full Maxidrive set up for sales (Maxidrive HD axles rear and front with complete third members set up in ARB RD 56 and Maxidrive R&P 4.75). Set up is located in Lebanon. Set up is on a disco with 36" tyres. Shipping sould not be that bad provided custom charges are not high in the UK. Thanks Jay
  3. Andy I m running 36"x12.5-15 on 15x8 with 41/4" BS from American Racing Wheels http://www.gulfcoastrovers.com/rovers/arwhl/15x8/ Of course i had to limit the steering as the overall width of this tyre is 13.2" But for the 12.5" BFG a 15x8 should do with minimum steering limitation. These wheels are excellent in terms of what you pay for. $50 a piece. Cheers
  4. Hi Can the the drivetrain (complete third member R&P 4.75 with ARB RD 56 and HD MAxidrive 24 splines rear and front axles ) be fit on a defender 110? I m assuming the front should a be a bolt on no? What about the rear which is a Salsbury? Thanks Jay
  5. Yes 36" on a Disco I body lift/flared and 3" OME lift that's it Of course an heavy duty drivetrain is a must or you will be breaking stock rover diffs and axles by the minute Can't figue out how to post some pics on this site ..... Some pics on www.discoweb.org Jay
  6. Looking for roll cages suppliers to fit a discovery I. Most of them are for Defenders..... Apprecaite suppliers contact (tel and e-mail) Jay
  7. Was wondering is the drag link and tie rods of later models discovery 1 (1996) can fit the tie rod of the early range rover 1983. Thanks
  8. Donald Did you notice substancil increase in power with 3.9 cam....will it be a direct replacement for the 3.5 I was thinking sinc the 3.9 will be genrating more power I was concerned about the wall liners. But since you are saying they are thicker there should not be any risk at all. Who are the good sources for a 3.9 camshaft in the UK and what are they priced at?
  9. Won't the 3.9 cam in a 3.5 Carby bee too much on the cylinders and pistons
  10. I had this problem on my disco and it could be: -Tyre balancing or badly bent wheels -Panhard rod bushings(My case !!!) this happened two times -Bent track rod or drag link (happened alos twice: bent it on rocks) very easy to straighten make sure you weld some steel corners to it to add some strength as they bend very easy and this will save alingments after off roads. -Steering Damper in case you have it relocated...(if it was not relolcated appropriately) Does it wander at all speeds or a particular speed...when decreasing or increasing speed Hope this helps
  11. Mark This engine is becoming sluggish....rangey is not driven much we had since 1983 and been sitting aroung since 1996... Can the 3.9 camshaft fit this engine will it cause premature wear to the pistons or cylinders... Thanks Jay
  12. Mark Thanks for the feedack. Any odeasd on the prices of the Magnecor leads and Lumtnition coil..... Jay
  13. Still have the stock v8 carby engine(never been rebuilt before) on my 1983 Rangie. Considering upgrading -Coil and spark wires (Jacobs Electronics ??) -Hi performance cam shaft Cost and is it worth it? Recommended suppliers?
