  1. nice to see a few familiar user names Suprised to see a majority vote for the LWB chassis.....any reason? Rich_t Like the NAS theme....... and yeah, guess the TDi & V8 are getting on Like all of us Jas
  2. loads here in Newcastle area.... about 8 inches in my garden. A slow drive to work in a volvo xc90 passing a surprisingly large amount of stuck cars. It appears that if you get stuck in a two wheel drive car, the appropriate action is to put it in 1st and sit at 5000rpm spinning the wheels Jas
  3. Hi, Been a long time since I was on here, since I sold my 110 a few years back I guess (Hi to anyone who remembers me ). Basically I'm looking into a new project. I built an old mini last year and I realised I wanted to get another landy as I missed the 110.....so heres what I'm thinking Short wheelbase maybe soft top? tdi or V8...no old lumps Just a toy really, no serious off road, just taking me & the mountain bikes / dogs out, although I may fit two forward facing seats in the rear (not sure). I'm just not sure where to start What do you think? Start with a 90 or start with a series? Whats the better bet financially? (ps. I still weld, spray, build motors and have a workshop so I'm reasonably capable....I'm just out of touch with the landy scene and I always got sound advice here ) Jas
  4. drinking and eating.........in that order Since I sold the landy and bought a volvo I have no maintenance to do.........................god it's boring Jas
  5. Jerry, This happened to me with a sierra 2.8 4x4i once. It was examined, I was very accommodating, polite etc.. the upshot was that they couldn't trace it to an owner or insurance company who wanted it back, so after about 3-months I received a letter clearing it stating I was the rightful owner. I had the vehicle in my possession all the time. Hope it works out well Jas
  6. Humphrey, just be for it was sold this year. But I can't seem to get them out of my system, so I'm looking towards building a 90 or series in 2008 :D ps. Merry Christmas you lot Jas
  7. Just to update you all. Looks like the injection pump is goosed. Its getting rebuilt as I type....kerching!!!! Jas
  8. well chaps, mines rigid............can't move it at all, even with tools............ So I'm off to the garage this week as the pump and/or the turbo aint working bummer.........I was going to sell it as well. looks like I'll have a big bill...and then sell it.....sods law
  9. wide track is same track width as defender. 3/4 is the usual one, smaller one is harder to find...possibly because people want them to tow behind "normal" cars??? 1 1/4 is pretty big and theres a 1 1/2 that I tried to mount on the back of the 110 once and I couldn't even lift the hitch up as the jockey was broken.. heres my old 3/4 wide track. they are big....and heavy!
  10. Oh It just looks like its never moved ...........ever..... Just passing the time trying to work out if I have a leaky fuel line.....
  11. just noticed something on the 200tdi (I'm typing this on the wing .....) No matter what happens to the revs, the turbo actuator/plunger does not move at all. Shouldn't it move when the vacum (or pressure?) picks up?? Jas
  12. ps: new tank, new fuel, fuel line to the filter is good, filter is new (just done it today), fuel pump is a recon about 5 year old. Jas
  13. Last week when away from home we noticed the 110 was ticking over faster than usual . I thought I'd sort it when I got home (I was camping with the kids). Anyway, its stood in the drive all week and when I come to start it today it runs like a bag of spanners. To get it to run I have to wind the idle adjuster / accelerator cable half way of the travel. It will just tick over (albeit fast) with this setting, but obviously its not right at all. Does this sound like possible fuel starvation? or air getting in? (if it was a petrol, those are the symptoms I'd expect). If it was the lift pump, it would make starting a pain......but would it make this "half throttle" necessary to tick over? Driving it, it only gets up to 50mph slowly....not the usual 65/70 comfortably. Lift pump first port of call??? what you think Cheers Jas
  14. Just bumped into this photo from a car show, thought it was worth posting..... B) Jas
  15. If we look at this the other way around....... I have 4 kids, the eldest two are never in the 110 with us now, so just me, wife, two toddlers. I have a 110 with 7 forward facing seats, and I thought about swapping to a 90 with 4 facing seats. When I add it all up, there is no actual benefit to change to a 90 other than its shorter... and length isn't an issue Jas
  16. I agree, It's always refreshing to see someone else who isn't in the South West........ Jas
  17. funny storey. On a similar note I was down near Buxton camping last week. Some friends were joining us and they asked for the post code of the camp site ........ anyway......... an our after ETA they call me "where is it?" I had to direct them from about three mile away. Basically the sat nav just took them to a field and said they were at their destination:lol: I just use a map...but even then the kids have drawn all over it jas
  18. not quite "left" but a different angle anyway... Jas
  19. your right mate, I'll change it next week, never noticed before.....and its been there for 2 years

  22. 200tdi 110 csw with roofrack, A/T. Best - 32-33mpg on a french toll road at just over 60mph for the duration of just about the whole tank.. Worst 25mpg pulling a sankey full of slate around some winding roads Generally see 30mpg without trying, I'm a slow driver though. Jas
  23. I was cycling through Newcastle about a month or so ago and when I stopped at the lights at Jesmond I heard the unmistakable rattle of a Defender behind me.. Along pulled a newish double cab, with tinted gold/reflective windows, big chromed alloys of some sort with skinny road tyres on, and about 8 huge chrome spotlamps on the roof & front bumper......you could almost smell the autoglym an absolute essential for getting out of the winebar car park........ (if your reading this and you own it, no offence mate )
