  1. Exactly what I was saying, have you seen the price of stamps these days? Jas
  2. top marks mate. Were you in the "A" team? Jas
  3. yes, I think the price is a bit of a mistake to be honest. The LR range all seem to be heading further upmarket than ever. God knows what will happen to the defender. Jas
  4. brother had this on his 300tdi. Believe it or not all he did was tighten up the loose injector connectors and its been fine since. (of course, I was telling him to buy a lift pump.....) Worth a look. Jas
  5. I'm with Les on this. I have removed a snaped plug from a volvo head and it was a pain in the butt. If I had known at the start that I could have a 2nd hand head for £40 I'd have changed it instead. Jas
  6. ralph, How many mags/articles you/110 been in? Jas
  7. congratulations................ Whats a swing role? Jas
  8. Just after xmas on of the guys at work asked me if I could move a trailer for him. He said his dad wanted a 6x4 shed moving from the garden to his allotment, his mates from the pub would put it on his dads trailer in the garden, but he no longer had a vehicle with a tow hitch to move the trailer. I said I would one night after work when the shed was on the trailer. I turn up to move it the next week and theres a 20 year old 6x4 shed, fully assembled, tied to the top of a 6x4 trailer! They has basically just got 8 lads to lift it up and dump it on the trailer! Thankfully the allotment was only a mile or so away and it was a quiet road so I took itthere at 10mile an hour and left it outside the allotment. Wish I had a pic of it, looked pretty funny. Jas
  9. Yup, thats what I usually do when I have changed belts on other motors. Gonna do it next weekend. Was gonna do it this week end but all the BBQ and home brew seems to be getting in the way! Jas
  10. hi Les, looked for them, but I can only find the 300tdi ones. Can't find water pump gaskets either, but I'm sure I used that silicone engine sealant stuff last time when I put the new pump on. ordered now, may do it at the weekend.. Jas
  11. chhers chaps, good point about the gaskets! forgot them. auxillary belts only done 15'000 mile so I think I'll have a look at them first. cheers for the update numbers Jas
  12. looks like I'll be buying a slide hammer then to get them out and tested. Jas
  13. Just wondering how long the injectors last. I'm starting to notice the odd puff of smoke. I know its possibly a wear & tear, but I thought I'd ask before I bother spending £200+ on new ones. Jas
  14. The time has come to change the belt on the defender. I'm about to order the following: timing belt - ETC8550 Tensioner - ERR2530 Water pump gasket -ERC5655 Is that all I need? Is it worth changing the crank bottom seal while I'm there (ERR6490) and whats the chances of the bottom pulley (damper - ERR751) being worn from the seal? Its got 163,000 miles on it, all original from what I know... My brother has just done his 300tdi and has the pulling kit so I'm hoping it won't be such a major problem. Happy to do the work, just I must get all parts ordered so I can do it in one day (no decent supplier near me). Thanks in advance chaps. Jas
  15. Only had one in the Landy (so far). Local garage fitted new callipers to the 110 and didn't tighten them up to the hub - end result was two callipers wrecking two alloy wheels and scaring the life out of me & my family at 60mph in the snow one day. Sods law was its the only time I have ever let a garage work on anything mechanical on one of my cars, I always do the work myself.
  16. I use 150 mig up to 2mm then arc above that. Just habit and it works well for me. Jas
  17. Never thought of that, It certainly looks original, its only been out of army use for a few months. Look here... its got 4x fold down legs underneath. Jas
  18. no problem with coordination. It just catches the door. I have one outside the house now, and when I open the door I must take the handbrake off first....then it hits the top of the jockey wheel handle. My jockey wheel handle cannot be turned either with the wheel fitted to the rear door, although this is an aftermarket wheel carrier. Jas
  19. inside of the sunroof (If you have a sun roof of course...)
  20. ....and then you can't wind the jockey wheel down because the handle fowls the spare fitted to the aftermarket rear wheel carrier.... The pin I think your on about isn't recommended for the nato type eye as the eye is too fat and when it moves about its got the potential to jam. I looked into the same thing before I bought my sankey a couple of months ago. I have a nato hitch on my dixon bate drop plate that works well. you can drop it below the larger rear wheel. But the posts above are right, the sankey brake and jockey wheel winder all foul on the back of the 110. Jas
  21. no worries, I'm in the north east of england, sometimes things work a little slower here........such as the post office.......
  22. brother has a 96 300tdi auto import with about 70,000 on the clock, I think it was £5200 from an importer in Durham. They seem ok if you like auto's. Theres a big worry about the false milage as all the docs are in japanese and I know that the supra/square number plate gang have many tales of "not quite correct motors". Like all cars, if you find a good one it'll be fine I'm sure. I may be wrong on this but I have been told they must comply with some test/inspection when they hit 100,000km, thats why so many of them imported here have about 70,000 miles on the clock.
  23. wright off road is the dogs dangly bits, It's in my 110 and there are some poorish pictures of it on my web page Jas
  24. its about the going rate from what I've seen lately (local to me anyway). Its great for the siezed nuts etc and good for welding obviously (but I prefer mig). Use flash back valves if you get them. You don't want a warm bottle of acetylene..... I'd disagree with the good welding quote on one of the posts above, I have seen shed loads of steel too poor to weld with mig thats been badly pinned together with gas. If you can't weld it with mig, I'd argue I probably didn't want it on your vehicle....then again, gas welding is less popular these days so you may find that gas welders are possibly more skilled welders...because they have been doing it for so bloody long.... who knows eh........ ;-) Jas
