  1. Thought I'd never say this, but we aren't going to Billing again. We've bee every year since 1997, but this year I couldn't even find a set of new shock absorbers for the 90. There was a trader selling 2nd hand ones!! We're considering Harrogate next year. A lot closer to us. Geoff
  2. Possibly due to the recent hot weather, my Defender 90 anti-theft alarm keeps sounding. Not the horn, nor do the indicators flash. Just that annoying squeeking noise. It's a 2002 Defender 90, TD5. How can I prevent it from happening. Luckily, it doesn't go off at night when it's cooler. Help!! Geoff
  3. We've been to the Billing Show every year since '97 except last year, when we couldn't make the alternative dates. We've tented, caravanned and hotelled for the weekend. For the past 3 years we've rented a static caravan from Billing Aquadrome for the show weekend. Does the Peterborough Show have that facility? I'm past my "pretend to be Bear Grylls" days!! Geoff
  4. Well, the now defunct LRE ran Billing for a while then shot themselves in the foot by trying to run an alternative show at Kelmarsh on the same weekend. LRM also had a half hearted attempt at running the show at Billing. So I doubt if either of them will want to front Billing again. That leaves LRW, and they seem to get on well with their own show. Perhaps one of the 4x4 magazines will have a go. I don't know what the facilities are like at Peterborough, but I doubt if we'll drive down from Scotland to find out. I hope the Billing Show will live on in some shape or form. Geoff
  5. Excellent run on the 28th October with a couple of well flowing fords to cross. Lots of photographs in the Website under the Balquhidder2 Gallery. Next run will be on 25th November. Details still to be finalised and will be on the Website and Forum. Geoff
  6. Next run will be on 28th October. Details will be posted in Website and Forum nearer the time. Geoff
  7. This run will be at Butterbridge. Details are in the Website and Forum. Geoff
  8. After a Summer break, the next run will be on Sunday 9th September. Details are still being finalised and will be on the Website soon. Geoff
  9. Sometimes, tightening a tad releases stuck bolts. Must have been some torque to snap a 6mm allen key!! Geoff
  10. We ran a 110 fitted with a 4.6 RPi engine and didn't even carry petrol. In fact the only petrol tank in it was from a speed boat!! My P38 4.0 SE starts and runs ok on LPG only, however, it does start easier on petrol and doesn't crank for quite as long as it does starting on gas. Comparing LPG and Diesel, my Wife has a Freelander td4, 2001 (manual), and I feel that my P38, (4.0 auto) on LPG seems to be a tad cheaper to run and it's definately nicer to drive!! I used to have a P38 DSE and it was nice to drive, too. I didn't find it particularly sluggish. I did fit the cold start fix, which definately helps if you do short runs. P38's are cheap as chips nowadays and a lot of car for the money. Geoff
  11. There's a wealth of fault information here: http://www.rangerovers.net/fixindex.html I'd recommend RPi. We've just broken a 110 with a 4.6L RPi engine. The vehicle was rusty, but the engine was bombproof. Great aftersales service/help from Chris at RPi with any wee questions we had, even though we didn't buy the motor from them. Geoff
  12. We fitted it today. With it being so much stronger than the old one, it did take two of us to bend it in through the tailgate. Also we had to burr a bit of the fibreglass away to fit the grab handles and interior lights. It's made the P38 look like brand new inside. Would recommend it to anyone with a saggy P38 headlining. Now considering strengthening up the old one and selling it with new cloth glued on. Geoff
  13. Details of the run planned for Sunday 10th June are now on SGRC Website and in the Forum. Geoff
  14. My headlining was sagging on the P38 and no end of glueing solved it. I came across this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-P38-HEADLINING-BOARD-WITH-SUNROOF-/140754989667?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20c5a6b263 I've just had one delivered and it's a superb replacement for the old bendy one. So the old myth that nobody sells P38 replacement headlinings is well and truly busted!! Company is Myrtle Ltd in Kent. Geoff

  21. I bought a second hand mechanism/motor from ebay and have just fitted it. Problem solved. Rave manual does not mention rusty screws, by the way. Thanks again for the replies. Geoff
