  1. I woukdsugestfrom a safety point of view a blue Hubble plug (some people call them caravan plugs.) and socket with a blue Arctic cable. You will need to fit a Hubble socket either outside or in the garage And a long lead. I Do recommend the use the heater in the garage as a fire could spread to the house.
  2. The RAC are the best, they even recovered me when I broke a couple drive safts whilst Green landing. Admittedly it took a lot longer but they managed the situation amazingly. If you sign up at a show there is usually a good discount too.
  3. Please take a look at this listing and comment on if it's a good Buy? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/Land-rover-Range-rover-Classic-Vouge-2-5-Diesel-Rangerover-classic/272588881424?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&_trksid=p5197.c100068.m2280&_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140211130857%26meid%3Db76f1b1e31f5456998b11f998e3c0748%26pid%3D100068%26clkid%3D3342275427652754518&_qi=RTM2063723
  4. Please take a look at this on eBay and comment if this is a good vehicle to start a off reader With? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/Land-rover-Range-rover-Classic-Vouge-2-5-Diesel-Rangerover-classic/272588881424?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&_trksid=p5197.c100068.m2280&_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140211130857%26meid%3Db76f1b1e31f5456998b11f998e3c0748%26pid%3D100068%26clkid%3D3342275427652754518&_qi=RTM2063723
  5. Bolt extractor is the way to go. Drill the bolt first but before you insert the extractor. 1. Heat the bolt to a dull red with a blow torch. 2. Use a can of Wurth Rustoff ice spraying the hot Bolt. This with thermal shock the bolt and allow the Rustoff ice to creep into the threads. 3. Use the extractor to unwind the bolt. The Urwin extractors are ok but I have had them slip. The better ones are the Snap-on paraellel extractors. But they are pricy. If you don't have any Rustoff Ice go buy some you will not regret it and there are loads of uses on a landrover. If you cannot get any you can use WD40 but I have had mixed results with WD40. Good luck. Ed
  6. I made a bracket that attaches to the mounting bolts of the tank guard and keeps the plug way up an Above the lower chassis line.
  7. I always use Quality Supplies in Walton on Thames I have used them for years and they've never let me down. What they don't know is not worth knowing. http://www.quality-suppliers.com Hopefully this can help a lot of people and thank them a little.
  8. I work for Cummins and have the same issues with the DVLA as you do. The problem comes when we do an E5 repower on a vehicle. So being in the know does not help.
  9. I purchased the bracket last year from them. Item seems very well built. I have a question on this subject though. Where should it be mounted? "Yes I Know on the chassis." but does anybody know where in relation to other brackets to get it to not affect operation of the damper or is it not that critical as I would like to weld it on only once.
  10. I had a similar issue. I Purchased a tyre pump off of fleabay which was supposedly left somewhere safe, I.e. In open view. Even though metal sign on door says "please do not leave parcels on display, if no answer leave with neighbour." It took weeks to sort out and required me to file a complaint. So I agree. Good luck!
  11. Send the diff to Crown differentials. It takes about an hour to remove a rear diff on the floor and a bit longer to do the front but will be worth it. I had a rear pinion bearing collapse on the motorway once on the way home by the time I found some ware safe to stop and inspect it was all over for the Diff. On the subject of Diffs:- Does anybody know where the special tools can be purchased from?
  12. I would go with the sumo bar option as have purchased the Defender type kit for my Rangerover Classic. I am planning on fitting a Terrafirma RTC steering damper to the relocation kit. This is just a tempoary fix as am planning to do a kit car conversion later on and the chassis cannot be modified at this point. Eventually I will fit the Defender weld on bracket to the chassis and Defender steering end with the steering damper mount. But not yet. As I said the sumo bar kit looks and feels better made and go with the Defender steering damper as you have more travel. Eddie
  13. Item has been removed from Fleebay. Very suspect !
  14. No seems to do away with inner and outer sills of the rangerover only original mount left seems to be the bulkhead mount in the engine bay.
