  1. Hey, As part of a chassis up rebuild i split the engine from the gearbox today to give them a good clean, whilst cleaning the gearbox i noticed that the input shaft has play of a few millimetres on it which allows me to jiggle it just enough to make what sounds like the bearing slop in the box. Am i being overally sensitive or is there meant to be no lateral movement whatsoever? Thanks Ben
  2. They are a false economy, few quid more and you get timken ones which last
  3. what size wheels would you be selling Tim? 7x16?
  4. very helpful chaps with prompt delivery and good prices
  5. On my 200tdi filter housing the threads were damaged so i just retaped them to be a 1/2 BSP, and then new hoses from there.
  6. Mo, If you want to try the bonnet route i have a near brand new bonnet wheel holder you can have FOC, can remove the bits that lurk on the bonnet for you as no use to me.
  7. Richards chassis are definitely the best. Alastair is very helpful and will modify the chassis to fit your needs.
  8. Mr Freezer, What sort of price did that cost?
  9. unlike james chassis change i think mine will take a damn site longer, or untill i am kicked out the garage
  10. I will be there spectating. If you dont find a winch bitch james i am a very willing novice and will even pay the entry fee to sweeten the deal
  11. Jos is the bulkhead in good nic? And do you want to part with it?
  12. SDS would not really suit your needs. I would definitely buy a Bosch drill as their quality for drills is very good, combined with a 3 year guarantee. For reference you can use standard bits in a SDS by using a chuck adaptor, as i use mine with holesaws most days.
  13. To convert BTU to Kilowatt i divide it by 3412 As to the heater outout not idea
  14. day will turn to night if you actually want to winch any distance via your power steering pump.
  15. I wouldnt want to see that tarpaulin after you have finished washing You dont actually remove the wheels to wash it all do you?
  16. i havent tried it with fuel caps but you can change over lock barrels for doors, so i would imagine you could buy a new fuel cap and disassemble to fit the old barrel lock.
  17. If i understand correctly you want to fit them where there is the oval panel which has screw to remove it? If so there is some 1.5mm ish metal behind there which will need trimming. Instead of chopping about the loop i bought a bluesea waterproof fuse box and took new feeds direct from battery.
  18. As ever another cracking day out and no breakages. Really got to stop my anti-social habit of getting stuck though
  19. Didnt have to rescue him as the walls were holding out around the house. Got his water pump going and that was countering what was coming in and drains were taking some away. Just got the issue of my engine decided to have a wee slurp of water but not enough to stop my outing with tim and james though
  20. Had to go and help the gentleman in the white house who was flooded about a month prior. This doesnt quite show how deep it was as i decided to reverse up somebodys drive when my ass was getting wet.
  21. scaff; i have a pin and ball hitch that you can borrow for the day if its any help its a 3.5 tonne one? i also have a 10 tonne tow rope if you want to use that
  22. With regards to Part P my understanding is that the new cable colours were brought in to be inline with Europe, and according to the NICEIC assesor who visits us yearly it was also so that colour blind people would be able to differentiate between the wires. We regularly go and test houses for safety certificates and find incredible things like no earthing or live wires left bare in the roof so if it helps weed out the duff electricians then all is good. Although we just tested 4 newbuild flats recently which had been given electrical safety certificates and they didnt conform to 16th or 17th edition and that was a relatively large local contractor. But as ever where do you draw the line?
  23. Thanks for the comments. Simon; I had thought about that method of using cord like the windscreen. I assume you mean fit the seal to the truck cab with sealing strip and have the cord in the groove to which the window needs to be slid in? Dave W; Just to confirm, i fit the seal to the truck cab then fit the window into the seal and finally put the seal strip in?
  24. Help! I removed the original corner window and seal on my truck cab today as the seal had all but gone. To fit the new seal i started by fitting the new seal to the truck cab itself and then i used washing up liquid on the inside groove to aid fitting the window. With a fair bit of pushing and using a putty knife i managed to get the window in, although on the top and bottom corners on one side it had twisted the seal so it did not sit very flat. As the window was in i tried to fit the sealing strip which was near impossible as when i had it in on one side it pushed the other side of the window out I have also tried fitting the window seal to the truck cab with the sealing strip in the seal but then there is no chance of the window fitting into the seal! Am i missing a very easy technique? Thanks Ben
