  1. Hey Steve 😊 found it, I hope to fire up mine by spring! I'm not on the boards as I used to (due to work and time) πŸ˜₯ but I'd like to start a thread of mine one day.
  2. Cheers! I'm still up to my neck in the (2nd) rebirth of my beloved 109" and can't wait to fire up the 3-liter straight six, sadly the electrics will need to be redone as they're still the factory ones, so I can't help much at this stage. Good to hear about another 6cyl, as I haven't driven mine and I'd love some photos/videos of the rebuild and to hear the engine running. I hope you're happy with it, I heard they're lovely engines and soo smooth.
  3. Oooooh, Iroks πŸ₯° Where did you get them? πŸ™‚
  4. What's wrong with the 300, or, even better, the HS you had already?
  5. I can't remember what my 300 Tdi is, but would love a retro steering wheel, too. I'd take the standard over any sporty replacement as I find the big diameter and shape are comfortable for me, sadly it's wearing on top and won't get better with time.
  6. I thought the older wheels were splined differently and so not a straight swap? πŸ€”
  7. Main target would be to bring the 109" back to life (finishing the engine conversion that some SOB let me down with, years ago). Apart from that, getting all the small projects - in the drawer - done for the Defender...improved OBA setup, new winch cables, new/definitive damper mounts.
  8. Very happy with the set I fitted to my Defender.
  9. Page 135 of the Timken catalogue, here: TIMKEN commercial vehicles I came across this thread while searching for the same Timken part # and thought to update.
  10. Oooh, I'd love one. May I ask you? What are the other items?
  11. They're on the wishlist (something I'd love to tinker with) when the budget will allow, Unfortunately the Cube is on jackstands because I got a wrong shock in the set of four I ordered, so I'm waiting for the right one to be back in stock, so I haven't tested anything, yet. Sigh. πŸ˜‘
  12. Ah, alright then, I didn't realize that. I gave an 1" or so of rubber compression granted, it should be okay, but again, I'll do some testing.
  13. I'm finally fitting my new 12" travel Bilsteins (been working on the front driver's side for the last 2 weeks, hacking my prototype mounts to fit), and I'll wrap everything up in the next week. I'll probably play a little with bumpstops and mounts height in the future, at the moment it seems like the articulation is more or less the same, just a small extra gain which is good. I've been conservative on the upward travel, making sure the bumpstop prevents the damper from collapsing. One thing I noticed in the photo above, the damper body looks to hang down below the rubber bumpstop, which is not a good thing. Is it the photo tricking me or is the setup like that?
  14. Indeed, that puzzled me a little. I'd get the "full size" spring retainers from Gwyn, for better clamping. I'd guess (as far as I've seen on my 90) it is better to clamp the lower side of the spring because it's (maybe?) less likely to re-seat itself. I don't know, but up front mine started dislocating at the bottom and not on top. Go figure.
  15. In the photo of Gwyn's 90 the lower part of the spring is hidden, there's a chance the spring tries to dislocate right there. It happened to mine when I had stock height turrets, I fitted relocation cones at the top, and the spring started to un-seat at the bottom. By the way, I'm planning to get a couple of his bottom spring retainers. When better times will come, I'll finally get a new set of dampers, 12" travel. I ran red/white RRC springs for years, switched to OME 764 (front and rear) and it's definitely better on road. Mine is truck cab, 3-linked front and with the usual bolt-ons (and 8274 on the nose). 1925 Kg with the rear winch fitted (1100 Kg front).
  16. I have a RAM mount for the tablet on the Defender, last year I wanted something just right for a mobile (to carry over to the 109" - if I'll ever finish it, sigh) and came across this one, suggested from the other side of the pond. Bought it off ebay, it's cheap and works great. It needs a simple DIY bracket to be used on a flat surface.
  17. Is that a steel pipe/line?
