  1. Despite all thats been said on the subject it does seem to break with satisfying regularity and the latest is it does'nt start, intermittently, turn the key and the dash lights work but no ignition, it does sound as though the solenoid clicks lazily. I thought it might be the ignition switch when it first started doing it but now think its elsewhere as if you leave the ignition turned and dont wiggle the key but wait it will occasionally fire, hence me doubting the switch connection ! Starter solenoid ?
  2. Awfully sorry for the use of capitals, as you have stated it was an error with caps lock and Not me trying to emphasise a point, however if it upsets people i will take your advice and amend my computer accordingly ! Incidentaly i will be trying a different battery this week (for the disco), i will let you know how i get on.
  3. I SHOULD HAVE POINTED OUT ITS A 200TDI COMMERCIAL, ALL FUSES UNDER DASH ARE GOOD BUT I CANT FIND ANY OTHERS ! IT DOES HAVE A TWIN BATTERY BUT DUE TO SPLIT CHARGE NOT WORKING THIS NEEDS CHARGING AS WELL, WHICH I WILL DO TODAY. ON RECHECKING THE OTHER BATTERY IT NOW SHOWS ONLY 9.8V, SURELY ENOUGH TO ILLUMINATE DASH LIGHT THOUGH !
  4. I thought of that and connected to my freelander with jump leads to no effect, it did make the engine labour though !
  5. I have just removed and charged my battery, its duff and wont take a full charge so thats nice ! On re-fitting to the vehicle i now have no electric whatsoever, both connections are good and i have good earth. I do have a clifford alarm fitted but this usually just goes off until i remember how to switch it off when ive disconnected in the past. I have no dash lights, alarm, locking etc etc and am a little confused ! Hopefully when its sorted i can bleed my injection pump that i have just repaired and then test my new bushes to see if my suspension issues are fixed, thats if no more rust appears whilst its sat there !
  6. Sure does, just realised its drum rear as well so she will be pleased i dont change the discs at the same time. Looks as though Paddock are going to get another wedge of cash !
  7. The misses has just bought a 98 xei and it dont sound good . The fella sold it cheap and told her a wheel bearing needs doing (among other things). Having driven it the rear certainly sounds like a trashed bearing and its vibrating a bit as well. One rear wheel has play in it so i'm fairly happy with the diagnosis. Now i've had a look through the forum and seen the kind of horrors it could also be i'm wondering if it was cheap enough !!!!!!
  8. I have just bought the misses one which grinds going into reverse, but goes in easily. The pedal is pretty much on the floor so i figured the clutch can be bled although having just got home with it i dont yet know how !
  9. I have been experiencing a rattling/spinning noise from what i assume is the gearbox for the past week since i used low range, or at least i had not noticed before. The noise can be heard mainly under light acceleration or a steady throttle and also seems to start whilst cornering either left or right . Any ideas what is about to go wrong this time? Is it still worth changing my drag link and track rod so i can go in a straight line or am i soon to be going nowhere ? If my discovery injector pump was'nt leaking i would'nt be too worried, still at least my bike works !
