  1. I ran LPG with my 2.8 tgv in my 150 for about 6 months. Yes I got massive mpg increases (between 20 and 25%) and yes I got massive power increases and yes I did **** up a perfectly wonderfull engine resulting in about £1500 of rectification! Would I dod it again. No. But it was fun!! I ran in at 15% ish all of the time. For anyone thinking about it I would suggest putting in a micro switch so it only comes in on boost rather than the whole time. I would also run an EGT gauge to keep an eye on temperature. The tinley tech system I fitted was essentially a basic system set up for a 3.5 V8 on running on carbs. Mac
  2. Yes they do, they cover my 6.5 tonner and transit for hire or reward. I used to have a 17 year old on my policey. Added £300 to a policey costing £450/500ish for full commercial any driver over25. NFU by the way. Always talk to your local office!! Mac
  3. I looked into making my 150 compliant and the adaptions were to the exhust and were in the region of £3000!!! I deceided to change to a V8 and lpg but ended up selling and buying a lorry. Thanks TFL!
  4. Cant remember the model but I bought the best one machine mart sold about 4 years ago. cost £70 and has been great. Has had huge amount of use and still works 100%. Mac
  5. Done Another years lurking guilt free! Mac
  6. Popped in there today and spoke to Howard (Ed's main mechanic) Yes he does sell them but hasn't had time to photograph them. \give him a call for the details. Mac
  7. I added breakdown cover with the NFU on top of my insurance. Cost me about £35 extra. Covered my lwb van, defender 150 with trailer attached. They never asked the length but the 150 was over 5.5m's. Had several breakdowns, all with full loaded and full trailers. Never any problem. Not sure if they will cover you if they are not doing your insurance but worth an ask. They also do my 6.5 tonner but that costs me about £200. Mac
  8. I've added LPG to my 2.8tgv. Best move I've ever done. Economy has gone from 24mpg to 32.5!The power increase is fantastic. I've got it set at 15% LPG mix. I also added a rev counter to make sure I now don't over rev it and an EGT gaugue is going in to keep an eye on things. Not a cheap extra but on a truck doing 50,000miles a year, well worth it (I hope)
  9. Forgot to say that we make our own bio and in the winter I add 2% petrol to stop waxing and a 'bit' (not very scienticifc) of 2 stroke oil. Not had any waxing or non starting issues.
  10. Hello. My names Mark. I have been lurking for a few weeks but thought I'd finally say Hello. We have been running bio @ 100% for nearly 2 years. We change our oil every 3000 and have had no issues. Running it in several 300tdi's and 1 2.8tgv. Changed fuel filters at 100 miles, 500 miles , 1000 miles and then with the oil changes. Over a few vehicles we have done close to 100,000miles with no issues. Just about to start running in a TD5 but probbaly at 50% bio to mineral instead. Bio diesel is far more enviromentally friendly as long as it uses waste oil in the process as it is a waste product rather than an orginal one. Using Bio does also lower your emmsions by up to 80% (I have my MOT emmsions statement to prove it). There is a huge difference in quality of bio depending on the base oil, which is why some of you are getting poorer BHP and MPG. Stick with it and either make it yourself or find a good supplier you trust. A good sign is when they use it in there own trucks. (Quite alot of them don't!) As for rubber seals. Anything post 1992 should be OK. If you have a LUCAS fuel pump then they don';t like it but BOSCH is absolutley fine. Hope this helps.
