  2. I have just found out that i need to change my exhaust manifold gasket. How tricky is this? Will there be any other bits that need replacing as a result of doing this. eg other gaskets? also is the exhaust manifold secured with bolts or stud and nuts. The guy i've spoken to says it should be studs but I have bolts. Any advice would be gratefully received. Cheers Frogmeister
  3. Thanks I feel a bit of a twit now as that makes a lot of sense! Just wanted to make sure! Cheers, Frogmeister
  4. Hi, I have just bought 2 new sealed beam headlight units for my 97 defender, after a rather dirty visit to Devils pit on sunday, they fit just fine except for the large rubber seal on the back that keeps it all water tight, the old unit had a removable bulb and the seal fitted real snug around the back end of it, the new unit doesn't and therefore doesn't hug the back of the unit very well. Do I have the wrong lights or can I buy a suitable new seal from somewhere. Yours hopefully Frogmeister
  5. Hello. I recently bought a 97 Defender, in the aylesbury area. I'm totally new to all this but stumbled upon this forum and thought it looked like a very useful thing to be involved in. Have done very little in terms of maintenance so far, just abit of tidying up, but think I need to get underneath soon and learn what's what. I'm struggling to get hold of a haynes manual covering my year. Any ideas? The more basic the better!!! Also are there any members in my area? Look forward to becoming a regular.
