Thanks for the link. I like the rollover option and had already thought about it, but not like the one in the picture. I don't seem to find exactly what I need, so I guess the DIY option will win.
What options do we have for rear wheel carriers in soft-tops? The rear door is a "picnic-table", so the carrier must be swing-away.
I know that Britpart and Mantec have some, but has anyone built a stronger carrier? I saw a Kaymar look-a-like today in a Defender, and I like their heavy-duty look, but don't like their price tag...
Some Land Rover Santana (Spanish) models had anti-sway bars, front and back. Even 88'' ones.
I no longer have the bars (sad story), but may have their supports. They're basically the springs mounts with a bar. If you need them, let me know and I'll dig in the pile.
Some pictures:
Since these are usually out of stock everywhere or have a high price tag, you can make your own, similar to the original. Or just use a string or a chain
Yes, but the 4-speed ones are the same as the british ones, and the LT85 was the only 5-speed box for the Series (used on 2 Diesel models: SIIIA Turbo - with the 2.3TD engine - and 2500 - with the 2.5D engine).
Yes, it is! It fits the 2 1/4 D engine without any mod, so others may also apply (200/300 TDi, for example).
Not that one... The 5 speed Santana box is the LT85 and it looks like this:
The knob on the LT85 is similar to the LT77:
So, it's not a LT85 Spanish Santana 5 speed...
More ideas?
From what I've gathered, there are at least 3 (not counting with other possible variants, like the Australian):
- 20C / Heavy Duty with filter
- 20C / Heavy Duty without filter
- 22C / Split Case (no filter here)
I have some pictures of this filter location, but not of the filter itself (my gbox doesn't have it).
I had hopes to see an answer more along the lines of "sure it does! no problem whatsoever! it's just a bolt-on job"...
The bell housing is still missing (but on it's way to meet the rest of the LT85), so there's still a chance of it working. The problem could be with the 6cyl bell housing. If it's too big, we'll have to source a 4cyl one.
Thanks, anyway!
Is it possible to mate a LT85 (from a 6cil spanish Santana) to a 300Tdi engine?
The 300Tdi engine is currently in a SIII 88 LHD, and connected to the standard 4cil SIII gearbox.
Will the LT85 connect directly to the 300Tdi, or does it need an adapter plate?
Thanks!
