  1. Thanks for the link. I like the rollover option and had already thought about it, but not like the one in the picture. I don't seem to find exactly what I need, so I guess the DIY option will win.
  2. What options do we have for rear wheel carriers in soft-tops? The rear door is a "picnic-table", so the carrier must be swing-away. I know that Britpart and Mantec have some, but has anyone built a stronger carrier? I saw a Kaymar look-a-like today in a Defender, and I like their heavy-duty look, but don't like their price tag...
  3. Some Land Rover Santana (Spanish) models had anti-sway bars, front and back. Even 88'' ones. I no longer have the bars (sad story), but may have their supports. They're basically the springs mounts with a bar. If you need them, let me know and I'll dig in the pile. Some pictures:
  4. Since these are usually out of stock everywhere or have a high price tag, you can make your own, similar to the original. Or just use a string or a chain
  5. Yes, but the 4-speed ones are the same as the british ones, and the LT85 was the only 5-speed box for the Series (used on 2 Diesel models: SIIIA Turbo - with the 2.3TD engine - and 2500 - with the 2.5D engine). Yes, it is! It fits the 2 1/4 D engine without any mod, so others may also apply (200/300 TDi, for example).
  6. The engine appears to be the standard 2 1/4 D:
  7. Not that one... The 5 speed Santana box is the LT85 and it looks like this: The knob on the LT85 is similar to the LT77: So, it's not a LT85 Spanish Santana 5 speed... More ideas?
  8. Came across a SIII with a 5 speed gearbox in it, but I have no idea where it came from. Does anyone recognize it?
  9. From what I've gathered, there are at least 3 (not counting with other possible variants, like the Australian): - 20C / Heavy Duty with filter - 20C / Heavy Duty without filter - 22C / Split Case (no filter here) I have some pictures of this filter location, but not of the filter itself (my gbox doesn't have it).
  10. I had hopes to see an answer more along the lines of "sure it does! no problem whatsoever! it's just a bolt-on job"... The bell housing is still missing (but on it's way to meet the rest of the LT85), so there's still a chance of it working. The problem could be with the 6cyl bell housing. If it's too big, we'll have to source a 4cyl one. Thanks, anyway!
  11. Is it possible to mate a LT85 (from a 6cil spanish Santana) to a 300Tdi engine? The 300Tdi engine is currently in a SIII 88 LHD, and connected to the standard 4cil SIII gearbox. Will the LT85 connect directly to the 300Tdi, or does it need an adapter plate? Thanks!
  12. For you (in Spain), it'll be easier to go the same path as I: get a complete front disc setup from a Santana, and change everything at the back. Result:
  13. I'd also like to get a copy of that article, please tiagomc [AT] mail.telepac.pt Is your friend's site www.ct-watches.co.uk ? He was very helpful, when I needed info for my site (www.CamelTrophyPortugal.com).
  14. Not trying to steal the thread, but since so many of you don't like FWH and I'm after some parts (post here, in the "wanted" section), can anyone help? Thanks!
  15. Just to let you all know that I'm very pleased with the brake lines from David. Got them 1 week after the order, with no problems at all. Thanks to everyone who suggested Llamma 4x4. And thank you, again, David!
  16. (if I understood correctly) what you say is that the wooden base passes the L "stopper" on the frame? What if you turn the L around? Will it stop the wooden base?
  17. Paddock doesn't have these on stock (at least, the +2in metric model for the SIII SWB) and don't know when it'll be available from Goodridge. Does anyone know a good source for this item (or a good alternative to Goodridge), with a similar price - £25.00 - and ready for delivery in Europe (Portugal)? Thanks!
  18. Some background info... I'm fitting some parts (LT85+LT230, engine, PAS) from a spanish Santana SIIIA SWB TD to a LR SIII SWB D. The front propshaft needs to be replaced, and it measures 837mm/83,7cm (32.95 inches). I'm searching for a LR propshaft with this exact lenght, or a bit smaller (in this case, a spacer will be added). The 3 UJs from the rear double-cardan propshaft also need to be replaced. These have 2 different measures: 26,98mm (1.06 inches) x 81,7mm (3.21 inches) and 26,98mm (1.06 inches) x 84,4mm (3.32 inches). I'd like to confirm if LR ever used these UJs. Thanks!
  19. Today, at work, I received an email with 54 words and no punctuation marks. I thought that was a record breaker... But you win the longest post without any punctuation mark, with 104 words! Is the clutch hard or soft? Was it changed? Does the grinding happen when you press the clutch or when you try to use the gear lever? I have no idea what could be the cause, but the answers to these questions may point in the right direction.
