Yep that's the one! I can't believe I got it for that on what the competition thought they were bidding on. Doesn't help when the auctioneer sets it to finish at 9 on a weekday morning. Second time I've had a good deal like that. Will let you know what I find when I get it on the bench.

Just picked up a non working unit on ebay for a steal (imo) Hope to get my hands on it at the weekend then see what I can work out.

@miketomcat The Mach 5s give it a much better look I recon there's about 25mm extra offset just enough to put the wheels properly on the corners plus the look they have. Really pleased with him a really comfortable drive. Now a few more little tweaks as I grow into him.😎

In 400 miles, truck didn't miss a beat, and managed 30mpg. The epic rain on Saturday morning identified a couple of leaks I need to now fix - just goes to show the Land Rover DNA is in there somewhere.

Well having got 94 aka "Smokey Joe" through the IVA and registered it was time for a little road trip - 400miles to warm up for the future. So we left Somerset heading north to Rotherham to see David Foers at Ibex Central, Foers Engineering, where the body was manufactured 15 years ago. Great to catch up after so long David has been a great help over the years with a few tips and photos of how things should (could) be fitted. They had a couple of very nice customer builds in the workshop which will be stunning when complete. Chuffed to leave with an Ibex mug in my grubby paw and a few compliments to boot. Then down to Nottingham to see an old neighbour and the reason I ended up building my Ibex, Mac. He built chassis No 4, a series 1 Ibex 240 (90 wheelbase ish) which has the semi gull wing door design hinged on the windscreen section of the A pillar so the bottom of the door rises. Need for getting out when ruts and ditches. Having had a look round he decides we need to go and meet his mate with another Ibex, chassis No 2 another series 1 240. All are running 200Tdi's, I suspect that No4 will be in the running for the oldest 200's in a vehicle in its original condition now with some 160k miles on the clock, No2 runs an auto, 94 with an R380 and no4 with an LT77. I trimmed the whole of Ibex's interior - don't underestimate how long it takes to do well. You need the high temp adhesive as Greg says and can soon consume a few cans I must have gone through 20+. The trick with vinyl is using a little heat from a hot air gun if you're trying to stretch or shrink it. I made panels to cover and then attach to the interior made some in ply but most the large area panels are 1.2mm ali. I put a load of sound deadening material in first which I could hide behind panels. I used an alcantara type cloth on head linings with a scrim foam behind it, looks great but was a real challenge as the give in the cloth is limited. once glued the material wants nothing more than to stick to itself, so have a plan for the larger or more challenging areas - you don't need to spray your work piece all at once, and I had good results using grease proof paper to cover areas I didn't want things to stick to. Have fun!

Have you tried looking at the problem from the other side? Take a drive flange off and with the wheel face down try placing the flange in the centre and see if you can identify what is catching.

Afternoon all, With my nice IVA compliant steering wheel and hub (which I quite like now) the stalks can't be operated using my fingers while holding the wheel. Has anybody tried bending the stalks to bring them closer before I try and find it breaks a widget? If so any tips? Ta

I don't remember a massive issue, I would have gone with washing up liquid if it was tight but it certainly wasn't memorable🤔

I've got Porsche 996 seats in mine😎. It wasn't that difficult.

I did as @miketomcat and stamped my own chassis number in. Worth checking the IVA manual for the minimum size of letters, can't remember. Have they told you whether you will need to go for an IVA with your new chassis number, my tester told me a horror story of a series 3 having to be put through IVA because of a misunderstanding between owner and DVSA. Requirement for E identified components can be an expensive experience.

Im using 10W40 Semi Synth in my 200, not quite your Stella mileage but it is currently running a treat on it. When new LR were using semi synth in these engines as the standard.

Thanks Paul, that looks like the bad boy. I am running the full TD5 instrument cluster so with this correctly installed I might get a better reading. Will have another look at the circuit diagram see if I can work out where to get the 5v feed from. Never considered this bit when I cobbled the two looms together.

The Thursday night challenge. The Ibex temp gauge is showing the cooler end of cool when he's been running long enough to be up to temperature. As I'm running TD5 instruments, well why wouldn't you🤔? I assume that part of the issue might be compatibility between the 200Tdi and TD5 sender units. I have a shiny new TD5 temp sender to try but no plug to connect it. Any idea anyone? TIA

As @miketomcat says the wording is open to some interpretation. The section talks about a requirement for there to be a deformable element to protect the driver from an impact with the steering wheel in addition to the collapsible element in the steering column. My tester was clear it was a requirement. Interestingly there was a second tester present for the retest who'd just been through refresher training and having made comment about steering wheel I got chapter and verse from him as well. Text from section 14 below see para 2.

Good story @Peaklander My daughter was in the rear facing baby seat when I brought the body home, only taken 15 years to complete. Next step I assume will be teaching her to drive in him. Ironic really as I taught my wife to drive in the donor vehicle 26 years ago.
