  1. Hi.. I have had these gearboxes apart 2 or three times.. Nothing to be afraid off. You just need to know a few things..To split the gearbox there is a hidden circlip on the output shaft holding you back.It is covered by an round access plug located near gearbox oil plug..I have some pics if you send me your email address. Hope this helps..Ruud
  2. RE:Timing belt 2ltr TD After broken timing belt, had 4 bent valves +4 cracked followers. got it all sorted but now it will not start. Think i have lost fuel pump timing!!! I had locked flywheel and fuel pump and have camshaft aligned but am having trouble with sprocket alignment on fuel pump side!! Any ideas welcome Many thanks for any help!!
  3. Cheers for the help DEANO but i already had that info. My problem is that because belt broke, crank is out of alignment with camshaft. Camshaft is easily aligned to marks. I need to know how to align cranksahft on it's own?? I cannot see any marks for it.
  4. Yeah i know. Trying to be optimistic at this stage. I'll deal with each stage as i find it!! Is there an easy way of lining up the crank since i cannot see any alignment marks?? Thanks Ruud.
  5. My first post so be patient. I got a 1999 Freelander 2ltr TD L series. While sitting ticking over in my driveway it stalled. Upon inspection timing belt had broken!! I'm hoping that no major damage was done. I have set the camshaft to the marks but am having problems setting crankshaft alignment. There doesn't seem to be any marks for refference. I know you can lock the flywheel with a 6.5mm drill bit. But the locating hole seems to be inaccessable behind IRD. Any ideas?? Many thanks: Ruud.
