  1. Derbyshire is a long way from Hampshire! My Disco has been great, but a new house and a lot of work required means a small euro box for me for a while............. Chris
  2. Fixed the problem, it was actually the rear brake and reversing lights fuse that had blown (so I have been driving around with no brake lights....) The cruise control would not work because there was no power to the break lights (fail safe), the rear parking sensors didn't work as they take a feed from the reversing lights. Why the fuse blew I don't know, I will check the earths for the brake and reversing lights as that would be the obvious place to start. Chris
  3. Should have said it's an automatic, where do I find the XYZ switch? Thanks
  4. The cruise control, reversing lights and reversing sensors have all stopped working at the same time, the car is a Disco 2 Jan 2003 model, no fault lights have come on, any ideas? Thanks, Chris
  5. You have probably sorted this now but the normal fix is to pop off the green oval on the rear door handle (use a small screw driver) you will see the handle mechanism and a lever that will have stuck down, spray of WD40 will cure the problem. Chris
  6. Cheers for that, job for tomorrow. Chris
  7. Is that on the fuel filter under the rear wheel arch or in the engine bay? Cheers,
  8. Every now again the water in diesel light comes on but only flashes on and off. When I had the Disco serviced 2 months ago I mentioned this and when they changed the diesel filter there was some water in it. Is there a way of draining off the water? Disco 2 Td5 January 2003 Cheers, Chris
  9. There is a small crack in the windscreen about 1" long, passenger middle, would that be enough to stop the whole screen from working? Chris
  10. I have used the search function and found this topic: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=33569&hl=%2Bheated+%2Bwindscreen&fromsearch=1 I have checked all of the fuses in the cabin and engine bay fuse boxes, the connectors under the bonnet for the heated screen are good (like new) and there is power to both connectors when I turn on the heated front screen but the heated screen is not working? Any ideas? Thanks, Chris
  11. In answer to your question you should NOT disconnect the power to the vacuum modulator as this will cause a fault on the ECU. You need to blank off the 2 pipes with either supplied bungs in the EGR removal kit or if not supplied a couple of bolts or something similar. Best thing is to buy a kit with everything included. Can't remember which kit I bought but they are all very similar: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Discovery-2-TD5-EGR-Removal-Blanking-kit-/330607722078?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf9c17e5e Chris
  12. The 2a has the round Smiths heater mounted on the inside of the bulkhead above the transmission tunnel so no intake on the wing etc. You could fit a Defender heater but would probably be more work and the Polo heater gives more heat.
  13. Put a heater from a VW Polo in, will require some brackets to bolt it to the bulkhead but not too much work.. Multi speed and far more powerful. Chris
  14. Safari Engineering in Eversley will have them on the shelf along with all of the gaskets etc, only just down the road from Reading. Chris
  15. Looking at the photo have they added an L shape plate to the top of the chassis rail extending over the front cross member and then welded the think plate to that? I can see the major advantage of this method is not having to notch out or move the front cross member.
  16. I use panel pre wipe. Evaporates off and safe on paint.
  17. Interesting there is no feedback for that Ebay seller for one of those things, but looking through his feedback I see he sells hamburgers that are speakers as well! Mini Hamburger Speaker For iPhone 4G iPod
  18. I'm with Jon and Fridge on this one. I built a 88" 200tdi, 5 speed defender box and LT230 in permanent 4WD and there is no noticeable change to the steering, leave it permanent 4WD. Chris
  19. Used the curry hook in my D2 this evening, only in this case it was a Chinese hook, I'm still debating if it works better for a curry or Chinese Chris
  20. I have slightly older model lights on my Disco, but something like the below link to Ebay, they are PIAA lights, not the cheapest, but very well made and they give a very good light pattern. I've got the driving light beam ones. Chris http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Piaa-80-Series-Rally-Lights-Spot-Drive-Lamp-Cover-/250685209975?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5e00bd77
  21. I will see if I can buy 1 new sensor and use that a tester. Chris
  22. Unfortunately they are faulty most of the time. Chris
  23. The rear parking sensors on my Disco 2 are playing up with the continuous warning beep. Is it possible to have them checked to see if it is a sensor that has failed? I have pulled the connectors off the back of the sensors in the rear bumper and sprayed some white grease into the connectors in case it was some crud or moisture causing the issue. Also, does someone have the part number for the sensors? Thanks, Chris
  24. Not a lot of options, if it was me I would swop the engine for a 200tdi Chris
