  1. Freeagent Thats the same setup as I have, except I run a Rangie Air suspension tank as my reservoir (about £75 a pair from equicar). The compressor is fitted on a plate mounted at the rear of the front offside inner wing (just in front of the servo IYSWIM). Used it in Libya, and with the air suspension tank as a reservoir, it worked a treat. Next step is to fit another reservoir to the other chassis leg. HTH Ivan
  2. Grant As Jim says, I have an 87 90 and have just fitted a RR rear axle. Just bolted it in, fitted new dics and pads and it's fine. Sorry, forgot to mention mine has one of those valve thingies as well. HTH Ivan
  3. Put me down for one too Les. PM me when it's available and I'll make the payment. Cheers Ivan
  4. Been to Russia, Morocco, Libya, Croatia, France and spent 3 years in OZ working /travelling around. Libya pics are here, here, here and here. Mines the Blue Discovery. Ivan

    SD1 V8

As FF says Carb or EFI ? If EFI it's possible one is the temp sensor and the other one is to cut in the aircon fans if the temp gets too hot. Ivan
  6. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that brake fluuid should be changed every 2 years. Can't remember the mileage but, if yours has been in a long time I would change it anyway. Ivan
  7. My 2p worth. when you checked the coolant level after the long trip did it need filling ? Also during your 2 long trips did you have the heater on ? Could be a leaking heater matrix which will only show up when the heater is turned on. I had a similar gurgling noise when the heater matrix on my discovery went. just drove everywhere wuith the heater off until I could get it replaced. If this sounds like a load of rubbish please accept my apologies Ivan
  8. Take a look at this thread here. I know it's a 200 pump but I wouldn't have thought there was that much difference. No doubt an adult with far more knowledge than me will be along shortly. HTH Ivan
  9. Unless you drive a Discovery in which case it's on the near side (passenger side) inner wing. No idea why they put it there. Ivan
  10. Had this on my Discovery when it had the 200 Body on it. If I remember correctly a wire had broken off in the switch. We took the switch apart and resoldered the wire back on. It went again a few years later so I just went ot a scrappys and got a nearly new one from a Montego. I think you wil find this switch was fitted to a lot of BL/Rover cars. You can also put a bridge wire from feed side of the sidelight fuse (or any permanent live) to the output side of the dipped beam fuse. This works but it's obviously only a temporary fix. BTW the switch only cost a fiver. HTH Ivan
  11. AFAIK the extra sensor in the head is a temp sensor. This was fitted to try and detect the head getting hot before the coolant temp rose too much (due to the old leaking p gasket problem). Obviously it's not that good. Ivan
  12. Most likely a duff connection on the alternator. Mine was doing this for a couple of days before finally giving in. Clean the connection and maybe remake the connection on the end of the wire to the rev counter. Ivan
  13. There's a free pdf editor here. Just google for pdf editor and there are loads that come up. Ivan
  14. Doesn't the turbo live in the top right hand corner (if you are looking into the engine from the front of the vehicle) ? Leaky hose or poor connection in the turbo piping perhaps ? Ivan
  15. Personally I think this looks quite nice.
  16. John When we went to Morocco we were on a tour with Impala Adventures (before he got too expensive). Did the Dover to Dunkirk crossing and then a leisurley drive down through France and Spain. The problem with the Bilbao ferry was that the timings didn't suite. It only took 3 days with 2 overnight stops to drive down anyway. When we went to Libya it was a recce trip for Atlas Overland. They had not run a trip to Libya before and wanted to see what was on offer. Again it was Dover to Dunkirk and then drove down to Marseille for the ferry to Tunis. Ivan
  17. Not meaning to hijack the thread but when I was in Libya I put the air con on and turned it off after a few minutes as it was too cold. I found that we aclimatised quite well. Same when we went to Morocco Ivan
  18. Lawrence got the tickets. Thanks very much. Ivan
  19. You can get handbooks from here Ivan
  20. Fuel Injection Pump stop solenoid. Ivan
  21. Had a similar problem with mine. Fitted a new fuel tank and the existing sender packed up (probably moving it that cause it). Fitted new one and all is OK. Ivan
  22. Points I noticed were (and I am no expert on Roll cages) 1. No cross bracing so it will just push to one side in a roll. 2. The mounting points look rather feeble. Having seen the pics of HFH's rollcages (I know he does tend to over engineer a little bit ), Nige's mounting points are much bigger and he uses welded supports rather than bolt on ones. Not quite sure from the pictures how it mounts at the front but that rear mounting looks like a couple of M8 bolts to me. Much better to talk to Northern Chris on this forum. HTH Ivan
  23. Blimey that was quick! Thanks very much for the replies. Will get onto VWP and order some 33A cable and a couple of 30A relays. Plan is to wire each fan separately and use the VWP kit to bring the second fan on if it gets too hot. Cheers Ivan
  24. OK got a pair of fans of a Mondeo to fit into the 90. Got my XEng fan controler. Need to know what size the cable should be (i.e. current rating). The existing wiring looks huge! Any one know what current these fans draw ? Plan is to use the XEng kit to switch the earth wire. Cheers Ivan
