  1. Got no ARB's on mine not an issue for the MOT passes every time...
  2. 3.5 V8 efi Flapper... Bad Flat Spot/ Miss ? when hot... Had a problem with the ignition Amp, so fitted a new one, now its developed a bad flat spot when accelerating from idle only when the engine gets warm/hot, from cold you wouldn't think there's a problem... Tried a different... Coil Distributor Cap Plugs Leads Distributor pick up point (inside the Distributor) So I'm now pointing towards the fuel pump, maybe thats playing up when it gets hot, but that has nothing to do with the original problem... I keep going round in circles... Any ideas would be appreciated...
  3. Sorry to butt in but I have had exactly the same thing happen to my V8 on Sunday. When i let the ignition key off I get a spark from the coil, hold the key in the starting position no spark. I was pointing towards the ignition amp...? If anybody can confirm this you will be helping 2 of us...
  4. Cheers for the link... well give them a call... I'll have to go to the main dealer to get the EKA from them, just to be able to move the car would be a start...
  5. Hi.... Help needed 1997 300tdi... The key fob has stopped working, alarm/immobiliser on, so the car won't start... Does any body know how to turn off, get rid of immobiliser... Any help appreciated...
  6. Looks like you've done a brillant job... You'll have heeps of fun in that Rangie... Wish I had the time to do that with mine, Why would you worry about putting it back on the Road, it will only cost you road Tax...! Enjoy...!
  7. If its a Flapper type EFI, There's a Alan key screw on the top of the AFM, try screwing it right in, its the mixture adjustment screw...
  8. I've fixed it... Had another fiddle, found it must have back fired when I went backwards down the hill, there's a bung on the inlet pipe to the plenum it popped it out So it was drawing air in past the AFM... Hence it would run when I unplugged the AFM... Chucking in loads of fuel...
  9. Thanks for that advice Ian.... I've got a spare engine with the coolant sensor still on it... will give it a go... Cheers Steve...
  10. No I haven't tried that, good idea, Thanks... I did try disconnecting the air pipe from the air flow meter on the plenum side & holding the flapper half open with a piece of rag while still wired to the ECU, it did run, as soon as I took the rag out it stalled... Its a Funny one...!!!!
  11. Hi All... This is my first post (so I must be really stuck ) I will try to explain this as best as I can, I will have to tell you the whole story so you get the gist of how it happened. My engine is a 3.5 V8 with a flapper type efi system... Today I went off roading and there I saw a lovely steep hill, done it many times before, nearly got to the top and you guessed it, The v8 ran out of puff... So the engine stalls and off I go backwards, brakes didn't hold slipped down the hill, didn't have enough time to put it in reverse, so to slow up my descent I let the clutch up engine goes into reverse and I end up at the bottom in one piece... Try to start the engine, fire's up for a second then dies fire's up again then dies, etc etc... So up comes the bonnet & after a fudge around, I disconnect the air meter & try & start, then as if by magic it fires and runs, but very rich, but it runs & gets me home with a trail of black smoke behind & the fuel gauge going down at a rapid rate of knots ... I try another air flow meter same thing, fires up stops, fires up stops, disconnect, runs but rich, next thing to try a spare ECU no difference... So its a bit of head messier where do I go from here...? Any ideas on the problem would be appreciated... Thanks...
  12. I've rebuilt a 3.5, when it came to the camshaft I had heard the 3.9 gave a bit more grunt bottom end, so I gave it a go, straight in no problem, excacly the same as the 3.5 except for the cam profile.... Bottom end grunt brilliant...
