  1. Thanks Paul! Good progress just now - I have done the ROW modification for the temp sensor (I have the 300tdi sensor and the adaptors to put it in the 200tdi! The main big plug is all done ready for matching up the cables to my loom The 16 pin plug is done as well The transducer now has a nice new plug and it fits on the end as well! I just need to do the 20pin plug - pretty much all the cables are crimped up waiting for the bit to arrive - and then fit it all
  2. Thanks @PaulMc could you please send out a spare 16 and 20 and the ends? I think I pretty much have everything now - but I got distracted traipsing across the country yesterday! 270 miles in the defender.... I did pick up a rear seat for the 90 though, will see how we go fitting that in!
  3. Hello! Sadly eBay won't let me cancel it - no idea why!
  4. @PaulMc I have made a right hash of the 20 pin connector! You might see my name again on eBay shortly 😂
  5. Some progress.... got the large plug wired up nicely and its connected up on my desk. But the 20 and 16 plugs to the warning panel are a pain!!! I thought I had the 20 one done but it wont push in so I guess at least one terminal isnt in properly. Any one got any tips?!
  6. Glad I re-read the thread again! Found the chat about .52mm wires to crimp on! Just ordered some on amazon in various colours so I can create the connectors and then will solder up the wires from the existing loom once happy everything is correct Wonder what else I have failed to order?!
  7. Thank you very much!! I will get that all sorted out
  8. I was quite surprised how quickly you all replied! Thank you very much
  9. Well that's good to hear!! I am just waiting for the last bits to arrive and then another old 200tdi 90 will be following your guide!
  10. you sir are a superstar! Once my little boy is asleep and his toys are away I will get mine out!
  11. Thanks! Had a quick check and I have an older pi and a pi400! Not tried connecting that up to anything really yet. Any advice is gratefully received!
  12. Hello! I have read through everything and now I need to put some learning into practise! Its been a few years since this thread has been updated so not sure if this will garner any responses.... I am looking to put together bits to do it These were mentioned and used - was it successful though? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005690400280.html or on amazon.... a bit more money but here tomorrow https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08N49Y7S1/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AI12MG02JKGW2&psc=1 I think this might allow solderless connection - seems worth a punt for £5 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B093K5L2QY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3A5E9UVDOIP4V&psc=1 I think from reading this that I don't need to power up the unit to read and write to the chip - so no need to power up the unit on the bench? The next challenge is making sure I get the right hex to update the mileage! How wrong can it go?!
  13. Yes please! Will send it straight back and have a word with myself for cocking it up already ! I have ordered the other one.... Thanks!
  14. Ah I will need them as well!! So did I only need one of the two I already ordered?! And do I just need one of the one I haven't ordered?! Thanks Andy
  15. 4 years later..... i am now about to do this! It shouldn't be hard to see an improvement on my 200tdi as almost none of the panel of little bulbs work, the gauges are guesses at best! I managed to get some TD5 gauges which are in the post at the moment for £220. I think the only bit missing will be the plugs into the LED panel itself however you seem to be able to get the terminals on ebay for about £15 each now. So yeh - here goes some wiring next week!
  16. Yeh you need to check them - I knew they worked for me! I am in Exmouth Devon, you are welcome to try them but Scotland is quite far away!!!
  17. Thanks Mo, Great info, particularly about House Of Torque being supportive. Will certainly go toward them, I am not in a desperate rush so wil just start collecting what I need that isn't on the X5 already. I found your thread earlier and had a good read! Many thanks
  18. Hi Mo, Yes the 6 speed ZF auto will be used, any tips gratefully received
  19. Hello! I have a genuine 200tdi 1993 defender 90. I have a donor X5 3.0d.... you can probably see where I am heading All the kits for engine mounts etc talk about the 300tdi, so my question is are the standard engine mount positions for the 300tdi the same as a 200tdi? Thanks!
  20. So I did have extended rails fitted to the drivers seat and not really thinking about it I left them in. I was far to tall in the car then However whoever modified the seats did a really tidy job so they mount to the standard points and have the rise already built in to go over the lip between the tub and the seat box anyway. I will pop out and take some more photos in a bit - but this was before I realised I didn't need the extended rails anymore! Hopefully you can see what I am chatting about
  21. I went round this recently, I dont find standard seats comfortable for longer drives (6ft2, 95kg, pretty broad build) and have tried freshly trimmed one. I have a set of old modular ones from Exmoor trims and I hate them with a passion having tried them. I just went for RX8 seats which I knew I liked from driving them. They are so comfortable! Good luck finding the right ones for you!
