  1. If i turn up at Kams doorstep after my works car clutch gets sorted are they likley to actually be there to pickup a p38 centre gearset and cross pins 18mm??
  2. Depends what you want I guess. As your running 36 inch tyres I'l lassume its not ARC. I run a salisbury rear with detroit with 37 inch slicks! front is stdndard 10 spline and weak weak 4.7 stock but slicks help! will be upgrading to ashcroft front shafts and a decent diff center. intrestingly last local comp we did i managed not to break anything where as another sorted motor done a front stubshaft Kam and a rear shaft. Poor video Q,
  3. Uploaded with ImageShack.us this is a pic I'm sure theyre the HD versions and not the areospace ones
  4. The crazy thing is Ashcroft is a 2 mionute drive away but these shafts came up for just over £100 pair Second hand but still new packaged. I have emailed Kam and I will phone them today. It's nothing that they have done they were not bought from them direct. My mate is currently waiting for stub shafts for hi mota so we will see how long they take to come. I really need an 18mm 4 pin cross shaft and gear set for a p38 diff center hopefully Kam will sell me one as nobody else has them for sale. Some bright spark put 15mm gearset in a 18mm carrier
  5. Right I think I've sussed it: I have HD versions which are better than std but not as good as Aerospace ones. Will check furthur but the pics on Kam seem to suggest these are these: SLR2432FS456OS-HD £110.00 SLR2432FL841OS-HD £120.00
  6. Hi fellow landy fans, I recently purchased some HD Kam front shafts online. Not from Kam I must add. These have a Bearmach sticker and packaged really well as I suspect Kam would have supplied them. They are the 24 32 variants. My question is: Is there any way of telling if these are genuine Kam shafts opposed to someone putting std shafts in and packaging them accordingly? I have a batch code 111985 19/09/07. I am suspicious as all the Kam shafts I have ever seen have the diff end splined along way up the shaft and the ones I have are only splined for about 60 or 70mm. Also because there is another set for sale and his pictures show the long splined section opposed to what I recieved. Can anyone help me confirm they are what they are?
  7. Reverse is great to see things but if somthing is really stuck I never use revers as its the weakest gear. Natio rear and a suitable length of rope dependant on angles req
  8. Well had a good day we laid out some easy ones for the more std motors, managed to break a Kam stub shaft and a std rear 300tdi shaft in Marks Challenge motor
  9. Lol! I'm happy I just picked up a pair of brand new Kam front shafts for £100 pitty they are the 24- 32 spline tho. Was really hoping I could stretch to ashcroft ones for better strength and to go with their front CWP setup. But hey ho. Plan 2 find some Early Rangy/disco axles and keep plenty of small stub shafts!!
  10. AWDC used to allow these tyres and I think they still do tbh
  11. Hey Juz is there a limit on tyres i.e can you run tractor type? I know alot of other clubs do not allow but thats more their regulation not site regulations.
  12. http://pdgla.org.uk/offroading/ Who are the idiots playing off piste at pindale. I love that lane it was such a pleasant drive through it.
  13. I think it come across quite well compared to other documentries of late. It showed that the local people are only after a total ban and showed how un reasonable they can be. As for bikers and other greenlane users there will always be those that are Twots unfortunatly. 99% of us who enjoy laning do it for a bit of a difference to mud plugging at a comp weekend. Unfortunatly we wil lose our rihgt to these lanes and its been going on since I was a wee lad and we enjoyed laning with my parents at the weekends. We have lost so many lanes and unfortunatly the advisor to the government whom is supposed to be inpartial is actually a fully paid member to land owners who are against others using their land. Coupled to the Rambers association we are fighting it every way and pics vids of numpties doing silly stuff only speeds up the process of losing our lanes unfortunatly. Its going to happen we will fight til the end but it will happen is the unfortunate truth.
  14. Ow Cheers Dirty Diesel, I never really considered them tbh, I've not had much to do with them and have none kicking about, I'm no fan of the wheel bearings weight is a good point as weight is always a bad thing. It always gets me that these challenge trucks weigh in so heavy. I guess weight is not good but on the bright side the 80 inch weights bugger all and low down weight such as axles might not be too much of a problem. Turning circle is improved by the wider 90 axle over std and being 80 inch should be good anyway. I take your points and I will ponder or look for some axles be nice to have a look at them for sure. As for the ultimate tighter turning stronger (out of the box) and lighter I may have missed a big trick! This is exactly the ideas I wanted from this post. Cheers DD!
  15. I have been running my 90 with 4.7 10 spline front axle for ages now on 37 inch military tyre but the rear salisbury with detroit has made the front end take alot less punishment. It will be upgraded for ashcroft internals at some point tho just doing the ashcroft stuff to my offroader first then I can sort my road going 90. R.e Gearing I have a 1.003:1 transfer box and 4.7:1 diffs and the gearing isnt bad at all. Best of all Low range is much more useable and when I did the nationals using std size tyres gives realy low overall gearing. Doing long hill climbs in 3rd gear takes some getting used to especially when you run out of revs half way up.
  16. Ok. I know the answer Ashcroft everything but we're trying this on a budget ish. I need a strong front end for an 80 inch trialler on leaf springs to compete in Time trials, Team Recovery and the odd non serious local punch event. Rear axle is a Salisbury Cheap strength. Ok I want strength so Series front axle are out pretty much out being 10 spline centres and the upgrade for these are serious money from the states. So Far I have: Ashcroft Front Rotation R+P 4.75:1, 24 spline4 pin center, Early 90 front axle cmplete, Looking to pick up a cheap or knackared Rangie axle. I have managed to mate the R+P to a 4 pin centre from a P38 into a rover casing with some light machininig, But this is the pain the diff gears and cross pins seem to be 15.5 mm and the carrier is actually 18mm. Agrhhhh! So I guess its off to Kam to buy their gear set and cross pin. I really should try Ashcroft as they are less than 3 miles from my house and about half a mile from my parents house. Unfortunatly working I don't get chance to pop in. Assuming it all comes togtether we should end up with a 4 pin center 18mm upgraded Kam internals ashcroft R+P, eventualy ashcroft front shafts, Std CV joints as a kind of fuse/weak point, Rangie swivels with stronger swivel pins top and bottom ommitting the weaker defender pin and defender stubs and series III drum Brakes I know I know but I have plenty kicking about and the series 1 brake master setup is a PITA then there would be no need for a remote servo (keeping costs down). Your thoughts? Is there anything I have missed or anything I can swapout for stronger stock parts? Brakes I know theyre drums but hey ho. Will obviously need to fabricate or mock up the front axle with HD track rod to clear the Springs I have just cleaned up, oiled and reassembled with the minimum 5 leaves as soft a setup as I could possibly get. So any ideas taken on board. Still updating the Cage outriggers to latest Specs. Removed the font axle last weekend so plenty f room to work in unlike before. The motor has been trialled, comped and destroyed for the past er god know probably 2 or 3 or even 4 decade the cage has taken some knocks but not bent or deformed in any way.The cage or more accuratly the cage mounts are out of date so lots more 6mm/ or 1/4 plateing required and some spacers for the back as the Wood, Yes I said it, Wooden spacers have rotted away. Thats how old this trialler IS! When Hard Wood was a legal spacer for the rear stays. ATB Jai
  17. Ok Cool I think we are doing the Sunday anyhow. I'll let the guys know at our pub meet that wish to attend. Cheers
  18. We always used SHPD Turbo Diesel oil I think its now called E7 much higher temp range than normal petrol oil and always been ok. On the single occasion Comp safari racing running SHPD and Slick 50 the rad got er bent and lost all its water bro kept racing engine slowly seized up changing down to eventually low range 1st it seizes solid. Right leave it till the end of the day. End of the day went to tow it back bugger me it started up and ran fine managed to drive it back and onto the trailer. Can't knock that so I run that in all my engines now.
  19. I know you guys are already up there all the Best Have Fun! As it turs out I got paid early Doh but will catch up with you another time. Dirty Diesel I sent you a PM but ignore it while your out laning have fun im in no rush as and when. All the Best Jai!!
  20. poxy phone! Er i think 96Ah each aswell so not too bad. Be careful because its rated at 0 deg C and not minus 17 as normal batteries state their CCA its not as good as first glance but i would have a pair of these over optima's as i've seen many fail after just a couple of years work on working vehicles. And price i think both delivered next day 140 delivered to your door. Winching aswell I can't fault them but as yet to really load them with the 90 in a bog single line this may change next month so will report how it goes
  21. Numax! i lovem, i have fitted 2 to my 90 and a split charge system and alls great they have a good rating and everyone I know who uses them has had no issues with them. They were 1000CCA @ 0deg C
  22. I think we have to be more brutial and not help others or indeed each other unless we really need to we sent alot of time waiting for each other to complete each punch I reckon we will do much better next time See you there maybe!
  23. WSe fancy giving it a good go next event probably on the Sunday dispite our non grippy tyres but hell we fancy giving it a good go.
