Carrying on from the trayback thread as i didnt want to take over someone else thread. how does a roll cage effect sva as it envolves some chassis work for mounting purposes.
-
i know no one wants to hear these words but the only way to find out is asking.
does a tray back like this mean sva time ?
I only ask because by the time you have tubular wings and a trayback there doesnt seem to be much body left.

i have no idea how you would build a larger version but sea fishing reels have a kind of threaded mechanisim that a guide runs along to feed on the line. might be worth a look.

-
i bought an oil filter for my v8 today it had a coopers Z1159 on it and my motor factors link it to whatever it is i have now the question is the new filter has some type of rubber over the small holes that surrond the big one ( the rubber is on the inside so its not a cover) and the old one didnt have this rubber, is the new one the right filter ?
they are the same dimensions and the seal is the same size and in the same place

i replaced pistons and seals all round on my range rover without splitting the calipers but would definatly buy genuine seals as you could visualy see the difference between the pattern and genuine ones i had and couldnt use the pattern ones

yes high build can be used instead of etch if you are using high build you can dry sand using 320-400 and high build will cover it depending on how it goes on, it may need a sand itself before the top coat using 500 dry or 800 wet.
as for the top coat if you are using 2k you will need 2 coats if you do base coat and laquer you need ruffly 2-3 layers of base coat and 2 of laquer.
-
yes acid etch for example acid 8 can be used on both steel and alloy and does have a fairly good build to it although if you are painting over a repair you will almost definatly need a high build primer.
another option is to by a high build primer and use for everything buy thin it a little more for less needy areas.
depending on the paint you may find you get an edge using acid etch where the preped paint edges are, which a high build may cover or just need a light flat to remove.
out of interest what grade paper is it finished with.

it wasnt a dig or anything of that sort but if in the future i or someone else may want to do this and if a deffinate answer could be given we would all know where we stand. i did move my next comment onto its own thread as i didnt want to take over this one, as i belive it is better to try and stay legal as we all now it can turn out nasty.
Also fantastic job and thanks for the post its great to have an idea of what is envolved as i would like to do one myself but with a range rover. (hence the post).
