    Durek

Durek i dont know what the problem is with the battery terminal, it must be quite obvious by looking at it closely, mabe the nut and bolt through the clamp needs replacing, more important is if you use the vehicle with a loose connection on the battery you will damage the alternator, which will then need replacing probably £150 + regards Chris h.
  4. Hi Marc when did you last change the fual filter.........? behind rear wheel arch offside Chris h
  5. Hi Dezzie sounds like there are several issues- When you have driven several miles , touch the wheel hub/rim does it seem unusually hot? is there a brake type smell, if so it sounds like you have a seized caliper / brake pad , it could be a simple case of removing the pins and pads & cleaning, or replacement of caliper, an easy job to replace, as for the rumble noise cv joint ? Regards Chris h
  6. Hi Gadget What about a good old fashioned MOUSE TRAP
  7. Dave try here http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk they sell all the parts you need, tail pipe & box , i had one 18 months back , under £100 delivered. two u bolts and a doughnut..............simples ! Chris h (Kent)
  8. Tim thanks for info, all understood, am i right in thinking that there was/is a facelift model 2010/Sept onwards which included the all terain gizmo's (rotary nob in front of gearstick) .......Also better fuel emision's (Tax £180 not £240). I ask this because i am sure that the bigger emision users, will probably find that their road tax will continue to climb with time, thanks to the goverments increaseing TAX requirements. So if i want a FR2 no "gizmoe's) it would be prior to 2010/sept, ( i would probably go for a GS.model) Hope that makes Sense ?. Chris H.
  9. Hello Group i would appeciate your opinion. My freelander1 Serengeti td4 2003, (owned for 8years) is not getting any yonger (like me) so i am thinking of getting a MK2. I have spent quite a lot of time checking the differance between the two types (mk1/2) and have come to the decision that they are really differant vehicles that use the same name (Freelander) My main concerns are............ Terain Response CBC DSC RSC these electronic gizmoes are good, i am not doubting them, but i am cocerned that if they go wrong, what the cost will be to repair, as i guess they are all electronic and would probably require the Landrover type diagnostic equipment to find the fault/s. Am i right to view these as inpending problems? or am i worrying for no reason, bearing in mind that if i am not able to repair myself, my local LR dealer are charging £70 plus per hour I am looking for a MK2 around 35/40k miles What can you tell me. Regards Chris H (Dover Kent)
  10. Hello Mihaidesign Petrol model............bad choice I have a 2003 serengeti td4 just spent £1200 having both pumps replaced/rebuilt good car 110.000miles for sale.
  11. Hello Keith I would reckomend changing the complete regulator and cables, see Rimmer Bros...website. I have fitted the aftermarket set they show at £55inc. not worth trying to repair...... fitted two years or more, ago and no problems, took me around 11/2 hours, nothing difficult just dont let go of the glass !
  12. tacr2man is correct, changed mine to the BMW update around five years ago, never had a problem with it, does away with replacing the small filter, which seemed to sludge up every 5-8k. Chris H
  13. eggnchips-thanks for reply Since i posted my last, i have done a test -............... I find that if you operate the window from the dash rocker switch (rear end window) it operates normally up and down without any obvious problems, however, if i operate the rear door switch it "clicks" but the rear glass does not move down to clear the upper door lip seal, although the door has opened. This leads me to two conclusions first the door switch could have a fault, or the regulator is faulty, i will get my trusty "Haynes" manuel out this week end and have a read. Thanks everyone Chris h
  14. Hi Group rear end window has stopped operating, the door switch "clicks" when operated but no movement up or down on glass. Have replaced both front door regulators in the past without any problems, but i have heard a while back that the rear window has to be "syncronised" when the regulator is changed, otherwise the window does "funny" things. I see the LR part from Rimmer Bros is £280, and aftermarket is £91, as i have used the aftermarket ones in the past i intend to use the same for rear window. Any guidance before i start dismantling would be usefull. Thanks in advance Chris H
  15. Hi Pete, there are previous notes on this subject, but i did mine couple of years ago....... from memory the multi connection block is behind the offside rear light cluster, you remove the right inside rear boot panel to get access, also there is a hole below to run the cable in, the relay you have to change and that is right of steerig wheel, and below, remove panel, unplug flasher unit, and fit the replacement unit for towing, the reversing sensors i know nothing about, but i guess as long as the tow bar does not obscure their "view" there is no problem, i bought the wiring kit from Delegrah Maidstone....01634 717713, took me approx couple of hours. Regards Chris H
  16. Hi Ruff67.....I would try fuel punp or blocked fuel filter Regards Chris H
  17. Hi Fruit_UK & Landmannnn Thanks both for your inputs....... Yes i agree 100% to use local whenever possible, the problem is that as of last week there were no winter tyres in the UK even at the main dealers, i tried Landrover (Barretts Canterbury) i tried my local garage & i tried Quickfit etc but no joy. The web was a last resort,...I phoned Visa yesterday and they do not want to know before 30 days have passed,...they confirmed that Mytyres have already taken £862. Will post a reply if the tyres arrive ? anyone interested in the other 4 if 8 tyres arrive ? they are Mitchelin Latitude Alpine 215/65/16/T . Regards Chris H
  18. Hi All, just a quick note. Last week i ordered 4 x Mitchalin Alpin winter tyres from "Mytyres.com" @ £431.20 delivered to UK. I understand that they are a German company, with a depot in Oxford. Today i find that they have taken £862.40 for eight tyres !! .......I have phoned all numbers on their website and can only get as far as a answering machine, they also have not answered six emails that i have been sending since last Saturday. Question, has anyone on the LR4x4.com list had recent dealings with Mytyres ? and did you get your order? - Any Info gratefully received. Thanks Chris H (snowing heavy between Dover & canterbury)
  19. Hi Group, another winter fast approaching, and it looks to be icy early on. Freelander1 2003 TD4 going well - recently moved to semi-rural in kent, 10 mile drive to work, and am considering some winter tyres - Question........ what do you fit & would you reckomend any tyre in particular ? my budget is no more than £100 per corner, also where can i get some inexspensive rims or does anyone have a set they want to part with. regards to all have a safe winter.... Chris H
  20. Hi All,just a quick input- many moons ago "Rustymark" gave me details of a filter conversion (Cycloid) for the diesel BMW 3 series engines. Part number (BMW) 11 12 7 799 224 (Breather assembly) have at long last ordered same from BMW Broadoak Rd, Canterbury total kit £40.42, hopefully this will end me having to change that little felt filter at £35 a time, will update in a few weeks to give you my opinion and fitting experiance. Regards Chris H
  21. Hi keith, quite simple - well mine was. tow bar kit has electric harness and multi plastic plug, remove offside rear side panel (inside boot)and you then have access to wiring loom and plastic connector plug, working from memory it is somewhere behind light cluster, also their is a rubber/plastic grommet somewhere below this enabling you to bring the multi core cable and plug into the space behind light cluster from underneath, the tow bar fits to the under body/chassis and has pre drilled holes with captivated nuts in situ, so simply fit bolts and tighten, you also have to change the flasher unit/relay (i had to) which is under the front offside shelf/dash total time around 2 hours should do it, -a pit is very handy. mine is a 2003 TD4 serengeti. hope this helps Chris H
  22. Hi Muppetdodger read your last, cannot help on heated seats - but i have a TD4 2003 serangeti, which also has a leak, the tool compartment under the boot floor fills up with water! - was this your problem (i know it is a common problem on freelander's, what did you do to adjust the tailgate window ? regards Chris
