  1. Just had an urgent call from a mate in holidaying Northern NSW. His alternator died so he pulled out the brush set to find that the brushes were very short & sticking in their holder. Fixed that - temporarily - BUT.... when he reconnected everything back up he momentarily reversed the polarity & got a bit of an arc. Everything seems to work except he can't reset the left front window and the drivers seat has lost it's memory. His question is: Is he likely to have damaged the control module (computer) or is there some trick he can try to reset these? The vehicle: P38 2001 4.6 HSE Any help would be appreciated. Gandalph
  2. G'day, I have a Bosch 150 amp alternator on my 1999 4.6 Rangie. The brushes which are part of the internal voltage regulator module are getting sticky and worn down a bit. My local auto electrician says there are no serviceable parts in that alternator and when the brushed go it is a throw-away-and-replace job. I cant believe that there isn't a replacement brush block available. The alternator number is: 0 123 520 022 and the brush block/voltage regulator number is 0 197 311 549. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a suitable replacement? Thanks
