  1. I use my landy as my everyday transport, I guess recently i've just been nipping around locally which would drain the battery a bit but .. Maybe I just need to be more patient and heat the plugs for longer as Lars L suggests or find me some of these hot banana ones! Cheers guys
  2. Not a truck cab, but in my hard top I've put them in the dash in the end and they are fine. no problems in hearing my tunes! Though, when I have some spare money i'd like to update them as they are only standard Landy units. = ]
  3. Hey, I recently had a new fuel pump on my 2.5N/A as the old one was leaking diesel things have been ok, however it snowed lots here this last weekend and it proved something that i was a little bit worried about. Upon starting I normally give the glow plugs 15sec to 20 sec though sometimes in the summer it only needs a max of 10sec and it starts first time, first turn of the key. This weekend though I did the usual and it almost didnt start... it turned over and over and over and after several times finally started. it was cold.. it was snowing... since the snows gone its done the same but not taken as long to start. Is this a glow plug problem? A fuel injection problem or something to do with having new pump fitted (air getting in??) As i've said in the past I know very little about diesels hence why I ask stupid questions on here about them! Hope someone can point to a solution before I take it in to a local garage.. Cheers
  4. Thanks for the posts guys, I quite like those wooden wagon wheels, can you still get them in a mud pattern? Ok so its 1986 not 1886 .... I'm looking to pick up a second hand set locally or from Ye olde Ebayus.. just don't want to spend a few hundred on a set of freestyle / deep dish / or boosts if they aint gonna fit.. I have seen a grey set on a disco that i like the look of but I'm not sure what they are called or if they would fit mine.. I don't mind fitting a later rear disc'd axle if that would help but obviously the cost would hurt the bank.. Cheers
  5. Been searching on here for the last 20 mins and decided that its going to be easier to ask.. I'd like to put alloys on my 90 which is a standard 1886 hard top 2.5NA, so discs front and drums rear... What LR alloys can i fit as I'm sure i've read somewhere that some will fit and some will not fit etc etc.. ??? Many thanks
  6. Am I ok to put 20W/50 grade oil in my 2.5n/a ? ? ? I'm not very good with knowing what the different grades do exactly, But i have a tub of that grade that would be good to use up.. The manual says 15W/40 I think .. Cheers
  7. Hit it with a progressively bigger hammer.... usually works for me. I had no gauges working the other day, one well placed blow to the fuse box and hey presto.. I had Diesel again woohoo I have a groaning noise coming from I think the front springs?? But I'm not sure, I'm ignoring it for the moment.
  8. Do you mean to say you have a hydrogen cell for a landrover! ..... cor blimey Gov! If i'm honest I did not truely appreciate the complicity of air flows in a combustion chamber. I just presumed air went in, chuck some fuel in and bang... power wooo! .. But it all seems much more cunning! . i'm intrigued .. sorry though if this topic is spiralling O/T ..
  9. Hi Gringo Exmoor Trim do a range of rear seats, from side benches to forward facing proper jobs. Alternatively tune into Ebay and keep a watch out as there are normally plenty changing hands for not huge money. Phoenix
  10. Ace .. cheers very much, Pm me with details, all this local knowledge is fantastic, if anyone needs info on Suffolk please Pm me i've lived here all my life (though I have ventured way over the borders so dont worry!) But I can give details of decent places to stay, visit, good local pubs, walks, rides etc.. I would say greenlanes are a plenty but someone has reclassified almost all of them to restricted byways! pffft, so i'm no longer sure whats driveable around here. Does anyone know what is meant by a restricted byway.. or who can drive it and under what rights it is restricted (some say a permit is required but I cannot find anything on how to obtain a permit or who is in fact going to police non-permit holders driving what is becoming more and more overgrown trakcs! .. whats the point in it all.. sorry i'm ranting O/T again..
  11. Cheers John, Will contact Wizard Western shortly for info and advice (like where the nearest landrover independents are for if (not that it would hopefully) things go wrong landy wise! Thanks for the info though muchly appreciated Dear Mods and Ads .. sorry for going O/T ...
  12. Hi John .. think I am following you about on here! that stuff sounds good and cheap and easy, is it something you can buy off the shelf? or is it only available direct from 'noisekiller'? Cheers, Martin
  13. Yeah, that would be the one, I've spent too much money on the landrover so thought a hostelling trip would save some precious pounds. Apparently the driveway is 1200metres long... ? I'll be sure to visit the local pub, i'm on my own as my friends are busy with babies, work or just don't fancy it or those that do can't. . . I'm hoping to visit the Eden project which isn't far away. Walk loads and i'm hoping have my mountain bike with me (save Diesel!) so do a fair bit of walking and biking about. Anything else that I should make sure I see. I hate being a tourist but I love the local life and try to avoid the crowds when possible. Cheers Ps.. I presume i'm not going to get hit by a train if I walk along the line
  14. Cheers andyb .. I'm a simple country boi and dunno how to do that yet If this is useful could it be 'pinned' somewhere?? for future reference??????? Please... sir ... master moderators.. .. awesome admins...
  15. Apologies for the wait,... its still blooody raining! .. so much for living on the suffolk sunshine coast! pfft!
  16. I have just taken delivery of a mat for the rear tub for the 90, the chap is on Ebay nic.wood shop name : U-PM.COM Land Rover. I'll fit it later but on first impressions of the stuff he sells its pretty thick and looks like it will be effective. Not too expensive either, and a nice bloke.
  17. Wheel bearings? do you notice the noise more when going around corners?
  18. So.. could I use a baked bean tin instead with a few holes in the bottom? I've read the other links posted up made me smile. SO anyway, my friend was saying if you put some magnets on the fuelline.....
  19. I need to do exactly the same thing in my 90 and found this info on the net last night. .. . www.coolbulbs.com/HID-VISUAL-HEADLIGHT-AIMING-PROCEDURE.pdf Hope that works and is useful. I'll be doing it later.. when the rain has stopped!! GRR
  20. Hi Dougstar, I'm heading down to Cornwall on Monday (fingers crossed) well I hope I am as my Landy 'OD' is being a bit tempermental at the moment and keeps throwing tantrums blowing fuses all the time Tsh! .. .I don't have children yet but is owning a Landrover like having one? or is that just weird? ? I'll be staying in a Hostel called Golant in/around Foray? I think. Had better check really hohoho. Cheers
  21. Is that possible? Hello everyone who is new ... and who isn't ...mines a pint of Ale or Guinness, the beast outside will have 55ltrs of Diesel Cheers, where's the bar?
  22. Engine transplant can be expensive £1500 for a decent 200Tdi then .. the conversion costs, I think you'll be looking at £2500 ish maybe a bit less. Its something I would have done when my 2.5n/a gives up, but while it still chugs along nicely why fix it if it aint broke.. yet As for the water... you can buy waterproofing kits for the electrics and fit snorkels etc, but .. you're better off with a Diesel for wading in. Though.. saying that the military managed it I believe...
  23. Well it'll be interesting to see if it makes any difference or not, even if technically it should or shouldn't . . . But as you said, £10 these days is'nt worth crying over if it doesn't work .. .
  24. If you do it right, you are effectively decoking the top end of all the carp that builds up so it does run better and I guess should improve performance but not to any huge degree though it does help MPG's and power output a bit and yeah, runs more smoothly once all finely tuned
