  1. Mr. R. Turner knows what he's talking about.
  2. Chalk works. Used to run the OneTen on 2.75 bar all round
  3. Looks like you've had a good trip !
  4. In the '80s I flew as a steward with horses professionally and those were good times. Also, each month to the ME with 400 sheep.... Later, for a friend, in the '08s - '11s to help her out and things were quite different. As long as the owners weren't there, usu. very good flights
  5. Flying with horses..... The good old days.
  6. Passing through Liege (Luik) this Sunday afternoon......
  7. Welcome to the forum - plenty of people here with vast amounts of knowledge. The PS 10 is a very good vehicle and well known in southern Europe and Africa. The roofs could be different but you really need to have them side by side - you can ask Alu-Cab if they can supply you one for the PS10. However, you mention an Ex with loads of tools and pop up roofs are not that hard to make and will be less money in most cases. Depending on model, there are several engine types to choose from and I suggest you drive a few before parting with money. The 2.8 versions are very nice.... Good luck.
  8. A good set up 2.5 ltr. petrol is a joy to drive and should last you a very long time. Like the others said, give it a very, very good ervice and, in doubt, lift the head to see inside and overhaul it while it is off. Most V8's you'll find now are oldish units and will need work - so you might aswell keep it simple and keep that 2.5. Any chance of pictures ?
  9. For the Hulco trailers we have a choise between "wooden floors" or "composite floors" Price difference between a 2 x 4 mtrs. trailer floor is about € 130 Composite ones don't rot but don't like sharpish impacts..
  10. Pity there is no reply from the OP....
  11. Would love to come but it is a bit of a drive.....
  12. I know ! on my to do list But time / etc......
  13. Yes, Holland is tiny compared to the travels we have to do here... Often not so much the KMs but the hours as lots is not motorway.. Minus 5 C all day but beautifully sunny
  14. Ambulance. Or armoured. Machinery, cherry picker (these seriously roll I can assure you), etc. Anything that would make it roll more than a standard body would do.
  15. Used them a lot in the past and they in general need a lot airflow to work nicely.. But blasting stuff is a very good, if boring, job
  16. If your other SIM works fine in the phone, chances are it is the SIM card / the network for that card. Try the SIM in another phone if you can and see what happens. IF it doesn't work in that phone either, it seems card / network settings are at fault
  17. Welcome to the Madhouse. Please post a picture of the vehicle - we love overseas builds.. Importing and registering (Immatriculation) are 2 very different things. The import process depends greatly on how you move to France. Are you taking residency here, long stay, how long have you had the vehicle ? You may qualify for exemption of duty or TVA is part of the removal.... Assembled in Kenya you say, but what are the first 8 characters of your VIN ? Is the vehicle modified - in other words : not as it left the plant in Kenya. This will tell me what route you could take here in France. In short, we need more info please to give a correct answer.
  18. As some of you may know, I live in France and things here are different in many ways... One of those things that are different is how buying used trailers goes. I needed one and, as a new one was out of the question, it would be looking on line. In France, LeBonCoin is the place to look for anything and loads and loads of used trailers came up. So, one sents a message through the LB system and then waits for a reply from the seller who eagerly wants to sell the trailer. And waits.. And waits some more... Experience has told me that sellers post an add, sell the thing and forget / can't be bothered to take it down. Go on Holiday. etc. So, when #7 seller responded and actually communicated I had no choice but to go and get it. A 720 km. (about 460 miles) roundtrip to collect this one. I was happy with the trailer and the new to me Discovery did what it should do. France is a big country....
  19. @ Maverick : ""I've been making enquires for a basic chassis swap on a D2 which are coming in between 10-15k inc chassis. Have a look on ""chassiswissel.nl Cheaper to go to Holland, have done there and drive back by the sound of it..
  20. Fuel Type changes are a bit of a challenge here, to say the least. Depending on your language skills - you must speak French, your patience and the local DREAL (formerly DRIRE) you have a small chance. As the UK has left the EU, you have lost a lot of legal leverage to get things done as some lawyers have taken the DREAL / Importers to court based on some EU legislation and did get some weird vehicles on FR plates. Unless the Hilux is really worth it, I'd suggest to sell it and get a simular FR plated one and drive it.
  21. Obviously, it is totally up to you but for road work I'd stick to a close to standard as possible. No lift, nothing on the roof, keep weight down and best possible maintenance. Good shocks - I'm into Koni - and decent road tires should help you having a nice drive. Good Luck !
