  1. I'm biased when it comes to Dormobile roofs as clients, friends and others have had a lot of problems with them.. I hope to get the 110 sorted this weekend motor wise - something broke - and the hatch project is going to be interesting. Good luck with the GRP !!
  2. Good luck with the project !! Not sure about the Dormobile roof.. I am very, very fortunate to be on this forum and a roof section is en route as I type from the UK to France for me to use for the 110 lift roof conversion. Yes, IF people want, I'll start a tread here..
  3. That is a lot of concrete - and the boxing will be under some serious pressure from the weight... Have a look - we used 6 IBC's filled with water to support the 40 cm. box to keep the concrete in.. I'd level it out with the sub-base (we use a sort of gravel for that) and pour a 10 cm. concrete slab with rebar.. Should be fine - and less expensive.. We used a few box sections in our ABRI just in case we want to build up the the walls with concrete blocks..
  4. ".. Though I see the French/Dutch method doesn’t involve any sub base at all! .." Eeehmm... We used the poles to "anchor" the slab. These poles go about 175 - 190 cm. into the ground, before we started adding layers to level it out. These 6 poles were 1st set into the original ground, the "gravel" was added, compacted and the concrete poured in 3 sections. The slab that sits higher (on the left) has what you call a "sub base" that goes 180 cm into the ground as we will be building the workshop on there eventually and to prevent the whole thing from sliding (there is a road behind the house 3 mtrs. below the floorlevel and the ground is not always very compact / stable) so we needed it to "bite" into the set ground. That slab (3.3 x 9 mtrs. used 8 trailer loads of concrete - about 11 mtrs.3 and that is a serious amount of concrete.
  5. " Are you opening an airport Arjan? " 😂 .... this doubles as an HeliPort....... 22 mtrs. Round Pen. (P.S. This was a serious digging project with 1,3 mtrs. hight difference....)
  6. Please bear in mind I'm Dutch, live in France and several people claim I have "something with concrete".... We build the ABRI on a slope - over 14 mtrs. it drops 1 metre and I was not happy the various builders suggested. Eventually we did it all ourselves and started with a wall to stop everything from sliding down. De dug into the oroginal ground and poured concrete to make them stay up. Eventually we poured the slab in 3 portion but let the armour (rebar as you call it) go across the 3 parts. 2 years on there is no crack etc. If you have to pour in 2 stages make the rebar stick out and it worked here. However, I suggested getting a truck deliver the stuff and pump it out. Better quality and you make great progress in 1 go. Eventually, floor was in and the roof put up. Pallet of blocks Finished.... 13 x 6 x 3,25 mtrs. The next one will same construction - but about 40 x 6,4 x 4 mtrs...... ... and after that one the workshop between this ABRI and the house..
  7. Yes.... The € 5-7k on the Continent somehow translates to idiot money in the UK.. PSP roofs (Holland) are where I suggest people go as Paul makes very good stuff for a normal price and the quality is very, very good
  8. Thanks for the update ! I am really, really looking forward seeing this roof hatch in the aluminium soon. And again, let me say I am very, very thankful for all the people I've never met that helped out in this. Guys, you are just awesome !!
  9. yes - easier. But also VERY expensive out here... The airgun was about 1/3 of this one..
  10. Air is the easiest way to get the bolt undone... Need to do that, again, later this week.... Bon Courage !
  11. It seems work is stopping me from going anywhere with the LR's this year.... 😞
  12. As he said, but they do fetch serious money.
  13. Hope this works for you : On the Brownchurch, from the underside of the "roofrack foot" it is 250 mm or just under 10 inches to the underside of the rackfloor. HTH
  14. what he says.. or air in the fuel lines...
  15. Have you checked the belt tensioner ?
  16. Should be fine.. We have TIC parabolics and a BRB + X9 up front and no problems
  17. Nice !!! My workshop shrunk in the plans from 14 x 8,5 mtrs to 8 x 8,5 mtrs..... Underground here means 100 mm pipes with ropes through them for all kind of wiring... We learned the hard way there is always another cable / hose to be put in later. Well over 700 mtrs. of underground ducting (yes - I love minidiggers) we put in over the years and about 1,5 mtrs. under the ground - we have never problems getting cables somewhere - even water & CCTV in the fields... I bought a 5000 mtrs CAT5 cable reel and we use that for both computers, telephone, CCTV, alarms etc. Pls. keep them coming !
  18. Would be very, very nice indeed ! Miss my Mazda these days a lot....
  19. It never ever ceases to amaze me what sort of knowledge & skills are around on this forum... I may come with this kind of question for my roof 0 however, that is to be horizontally lifted - not hinged..
  20. You may consider putting the # mentioned on th V5 in the engine somewhere. DVLA is not what is used to be..
