  1. Thanks Western your a star as always. You mention 200tdi retro fit - mine is a genuine Defender 200tdi - So will i need to connect it? Its a 1991 200tdi so assume its part of the swap over period from TD to 200tdi? Thanks again
  2. Help please on identifying a wire. I am into my 2nd year of rebuilding a 200tdi 90 and have a spare wire. I have a thichins Brown (with Red tracer) coming out of the loom about 3 inch from where the loom comes through the bulkhead into the engine bay. it has an eye termination on the end of the wire and is about 10 inch long. I have traced the wire back to behind the dash binnicale but loose where it goes. Will try again later when i can remove more of the dash panels. I have tried to take a photo but its too dark on my phone so will try again when i get home. Does anyone know where this terminates within the engine bay please?
  3. Morning, I split my front and rear calipers using the guide on here by Les. I got my gallary seals from "Shop4Autoparts" and the bolts (for a disco are RTC1136) I was fitting Disco calipers (Paddocks sell them) and they are 7/16" UNF Cheers
  4. Yes I had my Richards Chassis about 5 weeks ago. Estimated delivery = 8-10 weeks Real delivery = 14 weeks Still very happy with it
  5. Ok thanks, No they are genuine std LR springs - I just painted them. I have spring retainers fitted to the rear but on my (bearmach fastparts) list I couldnt find the part number for the front so only ordered the back. They came friday and now I have seen them they are the same so will order 2 more. Thanks again.
  6. Ok, If you seen the other thread you will see I have started to build the chassis up. But... 2 things I'm unsure about, the pictures will show what I mean. 1 - My whole front axle seems to be tipping forward. 2 - The spring seats on the axle seem to be too far forward causing the springs to not sit straight. My old one has the spring seats parallel to the floor and the spring sitting perfectly up right / straight. Is this because the engine and weight is not sitting on it? Cheers
  7. Morning, Will a 300tdi Defender 100amp Alternator (AMR4247) fit a 200tdi Defender? If I take the serpentine belt pulley off and fit the V belt pulley off my old one? Can this be done and is it easy enough? Cheers, Spencer
  8. I'm after some Help please, Once I have put the new output flange in (converting from 3 pin Disco to 4 pin Defender), I need to tighten it - Yes all the info I have looked at states 130Nm (you were spot on Boris) but this always shows a nut being tightened up. Mine is a bolt which has a smaller Ø than the nut so I assume should be a lesser torque? If so does anyone know what this would be? Also how do I go about setting my 3Nm preload please? Cheers
  9. Ok thanks. i'll leave it there then. Cheers
  10. Morning all. Started the rear axle build last night - FINALLY Its a rear axle off a Disco 300Tdi. Question is: On the rear calipers i have a Bleed screw and a Brake line nut. But what is the bolt thats in the middle of these for please? Cheers, SpenB
  11. Thanks All, Yes Western just seen that. Thanks again
  12. Thanks for the replies - will try a workshop I know of
  13. Morning, I have stripped my front brake calipers as per the "How to By Les". The 4 bolts that hold the 2 halfs together are shot. Does any one have a part number for these? Also the small "o-ring" can you get this or what can i use. The calipers are off a 98' R plated 300tdi Disco. Thanks
  14. Morning all, I am starting a rebuild of my 91' 200Tdi Defender. I will be running Disco 300TDI axles once i have rebuilt these too. I will apologise now for any stupid posts and stupid questions that I will be asking from now on. I have never done anything like this and any advice or help would be greatly accepted. Thanks in advance. Spen

  16. Hi all, Will the dash panels and gubbings off a 1991 200Tdi fit onto a TD5 2008 Bulkhead? I take it the tunnel will need modding? Cheers, SpenB
  17. Ok thanks for the replies. Managed to drill a hole through the head of the bolt then put a small drill in the hole and undo it like a tommy bar.
  18. Morning all, Have now got a Disco 300tdi front axle in the garage to refurb at my leisure then I can swap it over. Trying to take the pitted teflon coated swivel ball off. Have managed to undo all but 1 of the 12point 14mm bolts. The remaining 1 is refusing to move but the spanner now goes round on the head. Any ideas for getting it out please? Was going to replace the lot with a swivel ball kit from paddocks Is this ok? or would you buy the parts individually with OME seals etc? or any other recomendations? Lastly after taking the stub axle off there is a bronze bush on the inside face with roller bearings and a seal. The bronze bush looks ok but has black marks on its mating face will this be ok? Haynes says its a job for LR dealer? Do I need to change the roller bearings and seal if they look ok? Thanks in advance for the help. SpenB
  19. I thought the Disco damper was threaded both ends whereas my Defender one has thread at one end and ring (eyehole) at other. Is your damper on the front bar (just as a Defender set up)or the back one? Cheers
  20. Morning all, Tried doing a search but struggling. Had my new (2nd hand) PAS box delivered yesterday with the staight drop arm. might change over to the disco setup - so if i bought these: http://www.paddockspares.com/heavy-duty-steering-rods-for-range-rover-classic-and-discovery-1-with-4-ball-joints.html Is it then just a case of swapping the adjustable damper mount from the rear bar to the front bar? I know i will have to buy a disco damper but how do i know where to fit the adjustable damper mount along the front bar? I take it the front bar TRE just bolts throu the hole on the drop arm? Cheers,
