Most vehicles (even those owned by utilities) are managed and therefore disposed of by 3rd party companies. Contact a company like BT fleet who manage a lot of landrovers for companies like National Grid who have defenders for the line gangs and some of the gas operations.

Thanks all. An estimate is ok. I will take my spare off soon and carry it onto my bathroom scales to see how much heavier it makes me!

My dad works in quality for TRW but in electronics, otherwise I would ask him.

I am trying to design a light weight camping trailer. MAM will be 750Kg and it will be un-braked. Just to carry camping stuff when the back of the 90 is full of people. It's not an expedition trailer.
As it has a low MAM I need to keep the weight of the trailer itself down but would like the wheels to match if not too heavy themselves.
Anyone know the approx weight of a freestyle alloy wrapped in a 265 BFG AT?
Thanks

i know people are recommending the battery isolators .....and i've fitted one myself on the 90... but would a well prepared thief not have one?
I passed a switch of this type on my off-road buggy the other day. I couldn't find the key so I un-did the 2 nuts put both wires on one stud and then tightened. They are not a theft deterrent unless maybe hidden inside a security cubby (including all obvious wiring)
I would hazard a guess that most stolen Defenders are taken away on tow trucks like most stolen cars.

i fitted a battery safty cut-out, without the supplied key all's dead no electrics anywere, very basic i know but works..
What, not even the immobiliser has a feed?

Coticdave, A Soul rider?
It will fit yes.
I am looking to fit one to my pre-2002 TD5. So if anyone has one spare, complete with window/wiper/latch etc in Epsom green in near perfect condition, then I am your man.

Who makes this lead or did you have it made?

Posted in Military forum... Wolf in Sheep's clothes
Have been offered a rolled Wolf, and might consider rebuilding into a 'normal' 110 CSW. Priced 'as is' for about £3500.
What do you think? I have until tomorrow afternoon to decide
Seems very pricey! Probably has more value rebuilt as original to a MV enthusiast. Better off starting with a 110 CSW that needs some work.

No reason you can't move the seats in a bit. You will need to re-drill and use nuts to fasten the seat too but not a problem
-
do you mean will it be OK to mount the NATO hitch on top of the drop place (sandwiching the drop plate between the hitch and the rear crossmember) and using slightly longer bolts to hold the lot together?
then a normal 50mm ball further down the drop plate for a normal trailer?
Yeap that's exactly what I mean!
yeah, no problem.Brilliant

NATO Hitch, where is the correct place to mount it. I think for towing a Sankey it should be on the cross member. Will this work using longer bolts in the holes for my standard dropped towbar plate?
-
Cast aluminium will get you more than rolled so you should get more than the standard 80-90p / kg

I've have been ask to bring this to your attentions by Coventry part of Mud - Club
Would have to register to read..

Actually it have been done.
144v of Yellow top Optimas and an 9" advance DC motor are all you need. Sign up for the EV yahoo group and ask the question you want the answers for.
Wilde EV did it with a series 2. They had an onboard generator to extend the range which is not as pointless as you might think in terms of environments benefits.
I have plans to build an AC motored Defender in the next 2 years using power from Evisol in the netherlands.

LR make a mount for the new defender to fit a Nuvi to the dash
-
Why not replace with the newer type (steel) if your after a glazed one?
-
as in LR's type birmabright alloy [a aluminium variant]
That 0.66% Magnesium makes all the difference! Let's just call it Aluminium.
-
It'a a alloy roof Graham
Is that a ferrous or non-ferrous alloy?
-
This is a job I need to do on mine. The windscreen seal could be contributing to the puddle of water that seems to come from the bottom of the dash on the passenger side although I suspect somehow it's the heater. The rear door window seal should maybe get done first but I can see those screws holding the window in snapping.
Is there a how to anywhere on removing/re-fitting glass? edit I found it in the tech section

Vista? Why waste their time with this! What we need is OSX computability.
-
Thanks, any pictures would be great. I want to use a regular body to match (not hi cap) so half a chassis sounds ideal.
-
Saw this at Eastnor, anyone know how to do this? Looks like it might be based on a wide track Sankey trailer chassis. I would be quite tempted to do this with a regular defender tub to match my 90. Anyone done it. Google and forum search have no answers.

What you need are some Zeus tables!
Defender Td5 ROW spec???

Is it also the case that the locks are different on RoW spec. I read somewhere that the door lock and the ignition uses the same key? Maybe even the fuel cap? Imagine that luxury!
