  1. Thanks to all those involved in organising / running the event yesterday. We had a great time. Truck and occupants came back in one piece, which is a bonus. Would it be possible to post the results up ? - just out of interest. Also any links to photo's of the day would be great from those who were there with cameras Cheers Simon & Owen
  2. Spent last night rolling round in the dark fitting my rear recovery point. See you there !
  3. Thanks Bow, The offer is much appreciated. I needed to get one anyway so I ordered one this morning. Can you confirm on here the starting location at the end of next week. I'll keep my eye on here and on my email. Have you had any luck with the engine change ? did you decide to go 200 or 300 TDi in the end ? Speak soon Regards Simon
  4. thanks, I am going to spend a few pennies this week on a tree strop (wont get very close to a punch using my 4m strops, and i just re-routed the exhaust through the rear PTO hole which i used to lash through for recovery so i'll need another recovery point. I also need to pick up a winch sail. The aim of the post was to see if i needed anything else while the cheque book was out. Thanks for the heads up on the maps, thats saved me a few quid. Looking forward to getting stuck in and actually using that expensive 'show piece' bolted to my front bumper

For Example Essential: Winch sail recovery strops good recovery points shackles winch gloves Landranger 141 & 142 maps first aid kit small extinguisher Optional: High lift jack waffle boards high vis vest welly's GPS vehicle: cage winch With this being a novice event, it would be good to list stuff here for reference. All those challenge Experts out there..... please chip in
  6. Oh Bugger !! forgot to send my entry form in. I'll get it in the post tomorrow. See you there !!! PS Leafers rule !!!!!!! Regards Simon
  7. Yes thanks thats great. Will the challenge start at tixover and then move to yarwell ? I've never attended these events so want to make sure im in the right place at the right time and not sitting wondering where every one is. I have not visited yarwell or tixover so this will be a great chance to see the sites too. thanks Simon.
  8. I too would like to spectate. Ideally on the novice stages (saturday??) as i want to enter a novice event in the future. Where is the event being held ? tixover ? can you post a link for more info, times, location etc. I have never attended one of these events but would like a taster, and a chance to see how things are run. Cheers Simon
  9. I also had very long delivery times from Rebel, when i rang they said they were busy getting ready for a show (so was i but my bits hadn't come) and didn't know when they would get round to sending my goods out and that i could cancel my order and order elsewhere if i liked (no joke). I was shocked but unfortunately they are so cheap i decided to wait.
  10. Had a quick search but not found the answer i was looking for. Can anyone give me the length of a military hanger. I have bought an 88 2a and im sure it sits a little high than standard. Just wanted to check they had'nt been fitted previously. I dont know the length on a standard hanger so i cant tell. Thanks, SIMON
  11. thanks for the info on past experiences. The jag clutch maybe another option for me to look at. Any one else run a series 2a clutch ? anyone running a S1 clutch ?? Thanks Simon.
  12. I have searched the previous posts on which clutch to use when mounting a sd1 v8 with sd1 flywheel to a series 2a box and was happy that i needed a 9.5" s2a clutch. However i spoke to a helpful guy at the eastnor show last wk end who said he had used the sd1 clutch. This got me thinking. The sd1 clutch was designed to handle the 160hp engine in a pretty heavy car. Will the series clutch be able to hold twice as much power as it was originally designed for ??? Has anybody had any issues with clutch slippage?? I will be fitting all new clutch parts. The clutch is one of the few bits i have left to order before i start the swap, just want to be sure before i order. Thanks in advance, Simon
