  2. With just about two months remaining before this years event there are still a small handfull of places left for anyone who feels their vehicle and team are tough enough or fancy a really good weekends off roading

  6. The next CSW event will be held on the 18th of April at Furley near Chard/Axminser OS Map ref: 193-269044 or ST 269044. For those of you with Sat. Nav. that only reads in longitude & Latitude figures are: N 50.83427, W 003.03983. There are many ways to the site, but it will be sign posted from 193-280095 / ST280095/ N 50.88076, W 003.02491. Scrutineering will start at 9.00am, driver’s briefing at 9.45 & start at 10.00, please arrive in plenty of time, so that we can start on time!! Pre-entries received & paid in full before midnight on the 9th April will be at the "Early Bird" rate of £45, pre-entries received & paid in full before midnight on the 16th April will be at the discounted rate of £50, entries thereafter & on the day will be at the full price of £55.   7. The second of the Devon 4x4 mini series is to be held on Sunday 21st March at Herrods Wood near Saltash, Plymouth. Meeting at Bush Farm for tow vehicle parking and scrutineering before moving over to the woods for the event. Burger van will be in attendance at the site Entry forms are available on the CSW website http://www.challenge-south-west.co.uk/ MSA competition lisences not required for this event Some cool prizes to be won for top 3 in all classes (Mod, Intermediate & Standard) 1st Place - Go Pro camera 2nd Place - Leatherman tool (a proper one!) 3rd Place - Hi Lift Jack cover and D44 Stainless Steel Tax Disc Holder.
  8. I would go to some of the events you are looking at entering and look at the vehicles competing and talk to the drivers. Everyone has different driving styles, views on whats good or bad, works and does not work. Also many people learn by their mistakes and when starting a new build will do things differently to how they had previously. Could potentially save you time and money by getting things right first time. Also decide what class you wish to compete in and from there you can look at your budget and decide what is your order of priority. Personally I would opt for a Standard class vehicle to start with, learn to drive it to it's maximum before starting to add all the goodies.

  12. Thanks to all the guys and gals who helped organise the event and run it on the day. Special thanks to Chris B, Frank and Ian who put in some amazingly tough and challenging sections and punches which really put the teams to the test. Best roll of the event goes without any question to Jason (glad you guys are ok) and I will add the Cider Barrell Roll to your awards to go along with your previously earned wings! A big thank you to Simon and Liz and the crew at D4x4 for all their help, assistance and boundless generosity. Finally a huge thanks to all the competitors, many of which travelled massive distances and helped create a fantastic atmosphere which was one of the main objectives for the event The results will be posted up asap We need to put an article together for the mags, so if anyone be it marshal, competitor or spectator who has any interesting printable ditties of what went on or descriptions of any particular section or highlight please send info in asap please to me at undefined I shall look foreward to the De-Cider 2009!   18. Challenge South West DE-Cider Trophy 27th & 28th September 2008 Sponsored By Devon 4x4 Directions to site Junction 26 of M5 Somerset Follow white arrows with red CSW to site. Site entrance at NGR ST 215 165 opposite Moor Cottage (see attached PDF format map). Take extra care on approach to site as the road although straight has several blind dips in! Event will be set out for: Modified, Standard, & Novice Vehicles. Trophies Trophies will be awarded for Modified & Standard classes & Highest placed Novice plus an award for Team Spirit (voted for by all entrants & marshals). This event will wherever possible be laid out to be tough and challenging on the competitor but without intentionally being damaging to bodywork. Ultimately the decision on when to stop lies with the driver. Event Rules In addition to CSW standard rules (see link) Visit our Website If you are new to CSW or haven’t looked before then please take a moment to read all the rules & regs. All vehicles will be scrutineered to the CSW Regs standard at signing on from Friday evening until 09.00 Sat am. If you have any queries not already discussed with the organisers please contact us to get confirmation. Event Rules Cont. Camping will be encouraged for the Saturday night as part of the 2-day competition, but will not be compulsory as previously stated. If you break something and are not carrying the spares with you will be allowed to return to base camp or seeking outside repair. Devon 4x4 will have some spares and equipment and assistance on site to try where possible to keep all participants running. All Modified vehicles MUST carry a ground anchor. For those entrants who wish to transport their vehicle by trailer/lorry, in the interest of the environment you will be allowed to transport your vehicle between the two site locations at the end of play at site one. On Site Catering There will be a Burger van on site at the campsite for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, which competitors may use through out the event. Sat pm there will be a Hog Roast (for which a small extra charge will be charged to cover costs. All marshals will be entitled to a free meal voucher Sat night) Highways Directions/maps will be provided to get you from site 1 to the campsite at site 2. There will be some road work on Sat pm and Sun, competitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to make sure that their vehicles comply with all highway regulations and check their lights & number plates etc before driving on the highway. Sufficient time will be allowed to relocate to the second site and set up camp and enjoy the Hog Roast prior to the night section starting. You are reminded that No Alcohol is to be consumed by any team members prior to the night stage on Sat pm. Start & Finish Times Signing on and scrutineering will be available from Friday pm. Sat am drivers briefing at 09.15 Please present your vehicle well in time prior to the drivers briefing to allow time for signing on and scrutineering. If you are late we will not guarantee your start time! All start and finish times for the rest of the event will be notified at driver briefings. Camping Camping is available on Friday night at Wellington. Please make sure you take all your rubbish away with you or use the bin bags provided. There will be an official campfire laid at site 2 on Fri & Sat night to gather round and have a chat & a beer. Please do not light any other fires or barbeques on the ground anywhere else. As at Wellington please take all your rubbish away with you or use the bin bags provided. Site Restrictions Sat, Wellington Due to bad weather we have had additional restrictions laid down on the Wellington site. There will be clear boundaries laid out on site and marked on your site map. Wilful damage to trees will also affect our ability to use this site in the future. Sat pm & Sun Huntsham The site has a total ban on entering the streams that run through the site. Please either drive round or use the bridges provided. Anyone not adhering to these restrictions WILL be asked to leave and will not be entitled to a refunded!   20. Went pretty well thanks Stu. We got the main bridge in, which when were catering for all from Bathtubs monster to a standard width SJ is quite a bridge Thanks to all the guys and girls for their help. Much appreciated and we couldn't have done it without you. Big thanks also to Chris B as the digger did make life so much easier.
