  1. My gearbox was awkward to get into second (usual LT77 problem) and it cured that and helped improve the whole box. My latest LR 90 a '92 200tdi has a LT77 fitted as well and it feels sticky as well. I have just ordered more Evolution 1 and am pretty confident that it will make the box far smoother. I also found the box continued to improve over the following few weeks. G.
  2. Evolution1 This is the stuff I used in my LT77 gearbox. It is expensive but it makes an amazing difference and well worth it. G.
  3. I have a proper one identical to my first shaft sitting in the garage since the initial replacement seems to be working fine. As long as the one without the shoulder has the small clip at the CV joint end to hold it in there should not be a problem. G.
  4. One of these garage types used to have a deal where if you bought a full exhaust it would be replaced free of charge as long as you owned the motor. My mated loved it because he had t fitted to his landy and was often in for new bits. G.
  5. My wife managed to do that in a car park today. Not only was the car park nearly empty but she had to do a shedload of manouvering to get the car in to the parking space. G.
  6. 4allFours do a front receiver for winches that also include a tow hitch adaptor. Check out www.4allfours.co.uk/masterfr.htm to see what they have. G.
  7. That is why the skinny replacement one confused me Andy. I have sent the old one down to the local garage and they should be able to suss it out for me. By the sounds of it it is hit or miss what is in the actual axle as opposed to should be in the axle. We have a wee drop of snow here but it is slowly fading and by the time I get the RR back on the road it will be gone. G.
  8. Thanks guys. It is a 1989 RR 3.5EFI front axle so the shafts are 10/32. I had a look at it again late last night after half a bottle of wine and think I have sussed it out. I reckon the brass bush is held against the back of the swivel house by the lip on the old shaft, presumably this is to help reduce the lateral movement of the shaft. There is a circlip thing at the end of the replacement shaft which engages inside the CV itself (no circlip on the old shaft) to prevent lateral movement. I am putting the old shaft down to the local garage so they can suss out a replacement and in the meantime I will stick the replacement shaft in to see what happens. But as always it has started to snow up here in Aberdeen and the motor is in pieces, guaranteed to be gone by the time I get it fixed isn't it! G.
  9. Hi all I have a broken halfshaft and smashed CV in the front axle of a RR Classic. I have stripped the axles and got a new CV and halshaft but the halfshaft is different. The old one has a shoulder that keeps a brass bush against the swivel but the new one doesn't. Is this a problem or do I have the wrong halfshaft?
