  1. You should keep in mind that the 88" is lighter than the 90" you're comparing it too.. I al absolutely convinced that the 6" servo will be plenty good enough. On my 80" I have a Heystee kit as well, and without servo. There is so much bite in the discs that I dont really need a servo now, but when I was running drums I retro fitted a servo to be able to lock up the wheels
  2. Changed the engine oil today and had her out running until she got at operating temp. And I must say the cabin heat is awesome, but we already know from LR's that the V8 is amazing at producing heat And the ducts feeding air into the doors is actually quite clever. The engine has been running without oil pressure for an unknown amount of time, so the cam and followers are toast. But other than that it starts up very easily and runs smooth all things considered: received_191702448775539.mp4
  3. Haha trust I've seen all the rust on it, and yes there is much more 😂
  4. Here's a couple of pics of the rust repair around the windshield, nothing too fancy just needs to be good enough:
  5. How they where new I have no recollection of, as I was born in '85 and not that many was even sold in Denmark. But looking at it now, sure there's a lot of rust, but so was my similar aged Jag and every other similarly aged car here in Denmark.. The electrics sure are weird, a lot of resemblance to old RRC's but certainly the electric windows on the Jag was a lot better 😂
  6. To those of you wondering, I'm currently busy making it MOT-able, very close now though:
  7. Yes guys thats exactly what they do, the greater the preload, the easier traction is given to the wheel spinning. So basically it changes the way it behaves and needs to be driven as the spring washers go flat. There are no bad side effects or stuff failing or getting worn or anything. It simply changes the character, and not by much. Anyway I did consider (vapour builds you know) to use one of the halfshafts as preload so I could just remove a gasket when needed to regain preload 😁
  8. Yes indeed, the spring washers have a tendency to go flat, Ashcroft send me new ones FOC as well which is good service, but I must say it soon got weak again, I did drive the car to work and back everyday though (about 90km in all)
  9. I shall do my best Sir 😊 Haha but noone knows which end comes first 😂
  10. Finally was able to collect it yesterday, a 240km drive each way in very stormy and wet weather 😁 got it pushed indoors and left as is. So after work today I'll try and get it running. Then, when I have life I'll go through it and ser just how bad the rust is 🙈
  11. Finally added a radiator an alternator and a belt so I could run it for a bit longer and her it nice and hot:
  12. Yeah would be cool with a LR chassis thrown under it for sure, but tbh I've got plenty of 4x4s so thought it was time to try something more asphalt oriented 😁
  13. Oh I'm doing it! Just have to decide where I'll go with it, a low buck track Day car or a cruiser for the Street that can lay down rubber 🤔😁😎
  14. So I just found somewhere to drop this nice little engine:
  15. You never know 😂 Was my original thought, however it doesnt der that much use so maybe it would be more fin in something that sees a more daily use?
  16. While I wait to get a solution to my, very first world problem of not knowing what to use it for, I thought I might as well make a cart for it. Eventually I will add to it so I can run the engine on there, but for now it'll allow me wheel it around
  17. Thanks for the offer Ed, but I doubt I'll be going auto as the cam is specced for manual so I would have to mess with either that or converter/ shift points in the auto
  18. Yeah thats my fear as well, and always having to be gentle on the throttle makes this engine kinda pointless.. Did think of slapping it into and old RRC and strip it out to make it lighter and surprise some kids at the stoplights. Or even cooler would be and old SD1 but both are rare these days and go for silly money sadly 😟
  19. Question is, will anything else down the driveline last on a Series? The torque in this thing is amazing and I'm not sure a Series box and diffs will be best pleased.. Would be cool to put in to the Rolling parts bin 80" though 😁
  20. Bought a ~250hp 4,6 yesterday from a mate who's going LS. Now what do I put it in? 🤔
  21. Looking food for sure, it might be a bit over the top yes but it looks cool and you won't have to worry about it cracking from fatigue 😉
  22. I think its a really nice new Discovery for the rich-kids That was the plan right?
  23. Wow can't believe its been almost a year! :O Anyways some of you might think either me or this project has disappeared into outer Space! Luckily thats not the case, its just life that has got in the way :D I won't be spending this summer in the gravel pit abusing this thing, so I thought I might as well spend some time getting something done that I've wanted since i built it. And that is radiator in the back, so with some exhaust tubing and some universal radiator hoses I got there in the end: https://youtu.be/s-2ReDEb2QM Which now finally allowed me to fit the 80" front that I've been wanting all along! And here's a little walk-around video of the front to give you a better idea of how it looks from all the angles: https://youtu.be/tauctllrBgI I could've shoved it deeper in at the front, which would probably look better, but it would require me to completely molest the S1 panel and I didn't feel like that. This way only some slight trimming has been done so it can always be fitted to my 80" if needs be
