  1. On the subject of longer 'Hockey sticks' I know its not the same as extreme off roading but i lengthened by radius arms so that they met in the middle of the chassis, i also fitted them to the rear. The arms used 110 double metal type bushes and the chassis end used Disco II type bushes. The extensions were made from solid bar drilled and tapped to screw onto the radius arm. The only time any thing bent was when i hit a tree at speed! The amount of travel afforded was increased over the stock set up but limited by the damper length - 12". My biggest gain was the reduction of axle steer whilst flexing at speed. It also gave really good stability and although the rear panhard was longer the front and rear acted in harmony which allowed me a greater confidence to push it. The feeling on the road was very good and forgiving. The car now lives in Greece and has won the championship where it races so i must have done something right!
  2. If it any help here is the ignition map used on my Bowler Tomcat 4.6. This map is my 'Soft' Map, i have another which is 'harder' with slightly more advance at WOT. This Map should work more than fine in your car. Out of interest i was using MSExtra 026h4 Just manually write figures in if you want to use them. Cheers Nev
  3. Steve, Yes, a Sunbeam Lotus and a heap of work on my Avenger Tiger - now a Hillclimb/Sprint car. I miss the Tomcat - mostly for the V8 but that i guess can be easily solved.
  4. I did not not even get confirmation that he made it without ringing his girlfriend up! He took 3 days.....
  5. I sold my Tomcat to a man from Greece who drove it back there in late 2007. I don't suppose any one has ever heard of anything to do with it ? Nev
  6. If you email me direct i can let you have a map or 2 that worked for me - depending on your engine spec of course. Nev
  7. Andy, yes it was. And it was the old fella who eventually did for it!!!!
  8. By the looks of your photo, if you re-used your BW66 then you would get a two wheel drive option. In my experience my 3.5 Hybrid broke a BW65, it broke a BW66 and my father built a hybrid BW66 thing and it took much longer to break. In my experience my 3.5 Hybrid, 3.9 and 4.6 Tomcat have not broken a ZFHP22. Cheers Nev
  9. Sheesh, thats a lot to choose from!!!!! Cheers for the info though. Nev
  10. Does any one know what the threads are for the brake unions onto the master cylinder are??? The rear one is a M10-1.0 but the front one is much bigger??? I know this sounds a funny question but its for a custom build. Cheers Nev
  11. Cheers for that. I think i need to go to the local supplier and measure them! Cheers
  12. No one? Not enough mud or winches in the post then.......................
  13. Strange question i know BUT: I can find the part numbers for three Defender Master Cylinders: NRC9529 (BR3225) Is this Defender 90? Same bore? STC100411 (BR3018) Is this clutch? NRC8690 (BR3235) LR110 non ABS 25mm bore I have found what one of them is from and what its internal bore is but i am struggling with the other two. Has any one got the info to fill in the blanks? Since selling my Tomcat i have been building something else and i am trying to sort out the brakes at the moment and need to know the internal bore of various Master Cylinders to work out the correct pedal throw/feeling ratio! Cheers Nev
  14. I think Nige and TomG have given you some good answers. For me the difference boils down to whether you want to be involved (MS) or just want to drive in/drive out (Emerald)! Think about what you want to do in terms of the work you put in compared to what you can spend and then that should give you the answer about whats 'best' for you. At the end of the day you just need to control fuel and spark timing in the optimum way for your engine, both systems can do that.......... Nev
  15. Years ago i had a book by a chap and it was about him riding a motorcycle along lots of Green lanes across southern england. I loaned the book to some one, once and now can't remember who it was. So. Can anyone remember who the book was by? Does it ring any bells?? Cheers Nev
