Lots of build information and over 100 pictures of the build so far... D&A Offroad New Truck Build Based on the new 2015 Whitbread space frame and the keep it simple stupid idea we are trying to build a very reliable truck: As for one to finish first...first one must finish. Its powered by a 300TDI rolling on Ashcroft filled axles with standard suspension geometry. Full hydro steering using a Defender TD5 front axle. Then when we get stuck; front and rear hydraulic winches and a Goodwinch TDS for the centre. As the build progresses i'll be updating part two.

Hi, I'am looking at fitting a centre winch to defender 90 truck cab, already has a roll cage. The roll cage in bolted thro the floor then on to chassis with 8x M12 bolts, is there any regs that say i cant weld a plate onto the roll cage (see pic, the red square) to mount the winch? cheers.....

hi, just PM'ed doda456, hopfully come along for the trip.

There is a easier way to remove the turbo, no need to remove half the engine top, Take the airfilter out and theres three blanking caps for the 3 turbo bolts, and below that theres a removable piece in the heat shield that comes off, and the three bolts are facing up, ready to be undone.

I've not come across the starter motor not even trying to turn it over(all that sounds to me is theres no battery life), so cant help with that one, hope someone else on here can. But your says this morning the starter motor was turning the engine over nicely but killed the battery in doing so. That sounds like the glow plugs not working. Or slight possiblity maybe fuel is taking its time getting to the engine (lift pump problem) ..........sure someone on here will correct me about the fuel if i'am wrong.

Have you got to turn the engine over loads before it starts in the morning? If so.... Is your glow plug warning light coming on when u turn the key, Or can you hear the glow plug relay click?

Hope you like it! Me and my dad done all the fabrication from the winch mount/a frame/rock sliders/ lift kit and tow bar It is a very tight squezz to fit it in, lots of cutting and strengthing for the winch mount

Yeah, iam going for ashcroft rear heavy duty half shafts and ARB recon diffs, but trying to use defender CV's to save a bit on costs, as its getting very expensive. Has anyone fitted defender 94 on, CV's and half shafts in a discovery?
-
I been told that the late 94 defender front axle parts are very heavy duty and last much longer than disco parts for off road driving. defender 94: CV's and half shafts 24spline Will that fit on discovery 1 300tdi, and is it true about there strength? cheers Dan

HI, Has anyone converted a 300 tdi discovery (non EDC) manual gearbox to a auto box? Does it just bolt on and fit? (of course not) Can anyone explain about the extra wiring required/ torque converter/ oil cooler/ kick down cable pictures if possible. What extra's would need fitting or modding for the conversion. cheers, Dan
