  1. Hi this looks like a series 3 Gearbox due to the clutch arm position, release bearing and gear stick, The spring clip on the filler is off the series 2 2A ?. The suffix C gear box was used in the series 3 and is full synchromesh in forward gears.
  2. Just doing a rebuild on a 2.5 N/A Engine. One of the jobs is to replace the cracked hot spots my question is the original hot spots were recessed into the head. I have removed them cleaned up the seat in the head so no carbon deposits, tapped the new hot spots into place nice tight fit. The new hot spots protrude slightly out of the head, I have sat my feeler gauge beside the hot spot with a flatbar accross the top and it protrudes 0.013mm is this to much or should i machine the hot spots flat to the face of the head. Any help would be great
  3. Hi Les The engine was in my sherpa van then rebuilt in 2000 after i scrapped the van and fitted into my series 3. Which at the time i made a 5mm thick alloy front cover, which extended up and sat behind the water pump between gaskets, which i made as well. Also i extended the cover to fit a twin lipped seal around the crank pully. Drilled and taped the lowest part of the timing case to fitt a bolt which i could drain any water from the case. Since then my series 3 has done 30,000 miles on and off road including some deep water with no problems. The series 3 is now being scrapped as i need the galvinised chassis for my 1966 2A. When i get the cam belt and tensioner i will post a few pics of the cover plate. I have also found out the correct part numbers from the sherpa owners club. Many thanks Chris
