  1. Why not try Kennedy roll cabs, you can get them from Cromwell's or im sure a quick Google and you'll possibly find a supplier closer to you. They are seriously nice toolbox's and there not to expensive They have all the usual bits and bobs like double wall construction, ball baring sliders ect. And they sell spares which is a plus. IMO they are much better than any of the Clark or Halfords stuff BTW the offer price for the toolbox's in Cromwell's cataloger you can knock a 1/3 off it if you catch em when they have a load in stock Tom
  2. There are pros and cons of using both methods. Both methods can produce potential "problem areas". Seeing as you probably don’t have a press break. I would just weld the two parts. What I always do when you need the welds to be strong is to grind the edge of the plate. Seeing as its 5 mm plate you would be fine with welding it in one run instead of a root run then a weave over the top. So it looks a little something like this. Slightly exaggerated, but a quick rundown the one edge of the plate, but you will be fine without doing that, but it only takes 30 seconds.
  3. Hamerite is good, I painted mine with Red oxide (well whatever its called now as red oxide has been banned but they still call it red oxide ) it sticks like sh*it to a blanket But you might not want to paint the top of the work bench if you’re going to do any welding on it I just give the top of the bench a light spraying of WD40 to stop it rusting; it also helps to stop weld splatter sticking to it.
  4. Perhaps try Colway MT remolds (265/75R16), obviously not as good as BFG but for £50ish each who can complain. I have a set for my LR and haven’t let me down. There are probably cheaper places than john Cradock Tom
