  1. Looks like something expensive, complicated and easily broken/bent/dented to me, I'll stick with my 25 year old banger thanks. There's no shortage of people making 3rd party bits for it so I won't be getting rid any time soon.
  2. I'd be a bit hacked off if I went on tv and all I won was that old tat
  3. A snapon 15/17mm spanner, a spade, an axe, a steel cable with eyes at each end, 4 stretchers, a big hammer and a monkey wrench
  4. Well I bought a 1987 Range Rover with a Isuzu 2.8 a couple of weeks ago and just got back from a 1000 mile trip around Scotland. It did an average of 23 mpg over the whole trip. On the motorway it did 30 mpg at 75-80mph and 33mpg at a steady 65-70mph. It has the LT77 and LT230 and 235/70/16 ATs.
  5. I've always found it very useful that people flash to tell me when the trailer on the back of the 110 has passed them. It must have been 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years the old bus has been going fast enough on the motorway to need to overtake. Pet hate on motorways is people who like to pass me doing 1-2 mph more than I am presumably because they don't want to break the speed limit or maybe because they're too lazy to switch off the cruise control to overtake. 9 times out of 10 they slow down again afterwards.
  6. I'm thinking of getting another RRC and want to get the best mpg option I can so I can use it for long journeys. Does anyone know what kind of mpg I could expect on long motorway trips from a RRC with either the Isuzu 3.5 or Daihatsu 2.8 diesels? I've heard tales of 30-35mpg but I'd like to hear what anyone has actually had out of theirs.
  7. Something like this is what I got off ebay. Paid £125 for mine, I'll flog it when I'm finished for about the same as I paid. Cost will be the trailer hire and diesel to pick it up then, about £75.
  8. Just got some side sliding windows for my 110, is there a seal that goes around them between the metal frame and the side panel of the truck?
  9. Google has showed me that the cold cranking amps needed for a 300 tdi are 570 minimum so like you say a voltage dropper is out of the question unless using a 24v starter motor. These cost £300+ new as far as I can tell so the second alternator and two extra batteries are easily the cheapest way. Sorry if I threadjacked here, been trying to work out the best way to get the 24v winch I have fitted to my 12v 110.
  10. Would it be possible to run a 24v alternator and an extra battery in series and use a voltage dropper to run the rest of the vehicle electrics apart from the winch?
  11. I think I've just answered my own question: http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=99202&xSec=5497 NAD500220 STARTER MOTOR 24V 200-300TDI DEF/DIS (G) Superceded Product Codes: ERR5021 NAD0000130 NAD000130
  12. Anyone know the part numbers for 24v starter motor to fit a 2.5td and for a 300tdi?
