  1. Thanks - I'm not too sure... I have photos when I stripped it, but stupidly didn't tag the lines with which was near side and which was off side... It's only the rear brake lines that are the issue as they were attached to the body so were cut when we lifted the body off the chassis! I am seeing someone tomorrow who has a Rave file for the RRC so hope that we can identfy it from there.... Cheers
  2. Hope someone might be able to help... I have a 91 plate Range Rover that is being used as a donor vehicle for a Tornado build and so I have had a full body off, back to the bare chassis strip down. In the enthusiasm to remove the body, the brake lines to the rear were crimped but not marked... Does anyone have a diagram that shows which lines go into which valve / port on the ABS modulator? The vehicle has power brakes... Thanks for any help!
  3. Carl is normally pretty good - have you rung him and spoken to him? I appreciate that this doesn't solve your immediate need if you have a truck off the road but I don't think he would intend to rip anyone off - he's very well regarded locally... Hope you are able to resolve this!
  4. Is your mate at Harpers then... Feel for him - our daughter's just started there on the Off-Road Engineering course... Hope folks can keep eyes peeled
  5. There was one sat in a layby today heading north on the A34 just south of Oxford... They're getting out there - this one was on trade plates
  6. Our local Tesco has a coin operated jet wash that is behind the cash kisok and therefore out of sight...
  7. Mike... Will those useful things be the very things that I NEED to buy, then drive home thinking 'why?' Tell you what, you buy my tat (treasure) and that will give me space for yours... Will be there in a D4 Commercial - I should think I'll be looking for keen offers on some rear doors for a 91 RRC around 2pm... any offers actually to save me having to cart them back!
  8. Courier job then? Pallet wrap it quickly - should be delightfully ripe by the time it gets North... Maybe think about using a 48 hr service if you want to ensure it's achieved maximum toxicity!
  9. Depends on where you are (so how much hassle it is for you to get to Newbury) and/or what you want... We do it for both Spring and Autumn events and it's a good old social session - generally about 600 sellers and 2,000 or so buyers. Forecast seems to be for dry on Sunday So that's a yes from me...!
  10. Right-o... I thought you might have meant some horrible scruffy trailer with bald tyres and no lights... If you still need any sort of transport towards the Midlands, then just shout otherwise Parcel Monkey may well be your friend...
  11. What sized bit and do you literally mean 'dragged'? Might be able to get stuff to Towcester if that helps and anyone can help with onward movement...
  12. Various folks have mentioned the 'factory tour' which is, of course, bookable as part of the LR Experience process at Solihull. This is a fabulous half day tour and they typically concentrate on the D4 and RR lines where you will see the latest technology... BUT it is really is worth asking to make time for a trip round the Defender line. This is like stepping back in history with components being hand-fettled to fit and worth seeing if your trip coincides with the tail end of Defender production as this is likely to stop at some stage during 2015... literally, a case of see it while you still can. The other place that is worth seeing is kinda tied into Gaydon. Gaydon as the Heritage Centre is a worthwhile trip in it's own right but it also acts as the meeting point for the LR Engineering tour which takes you behind the scenes of next-generation LR. It's a fantastic half day and you get to see the 3D printing techniques used for quick prototyping, the CGI 'cave' where they can cut through virtual cars to see clearances between components etc and they also include a high speed run out on the proving ground. Book it through LR Experience... brilliant time on both tours. Hope this helps
  13. Henk You say this looks like a 'happy outcome' so this may be too late... I was going to suggest a call to Kev, the Parts Manager at Duckworths in Market Rasen - this is slightly outside your search area but I was having a mooch around his 'interesting but generally spare' containers the other day and he appears to have an engine tucked away! Didn't ask why (or price) but he is a really knowledgeable chap, helpful and also exports loads of stuff! Hope this helps
  14. Pillar Wedge as already detailed... they have recently just done a project for me that involved 847 tonnes of steel and which then won the Galvanisers Association Award for best use of galvanised steel in an engineering project! Depending on where you are in Oxford, you could also drop into WIG Engineering (just outside Bicester) and ask for John or David - see if they have anything going through somewhere local that you could 'tag onto' Cheers Rob
  15. Looking to re-plumb a pressure braking system for a 91 plate RRC with power brakes. Copper or Kunifer? I believe that copper would be good enough (pressure wise) and, of course, will be easier to work with but any thoughts or comments? Thanks!
  16. Just to revert to the issue of resin anchoring - we use this all the time on structures of up to 50m x 150m or so and you don't have to put the anchors in first... Simply drill your timbers in the preferred location, then use the masonry bit to drill a suitable (matching) hole in the concrete. Owing to the size of the masonry bit, you will need a slightly oversized hole in the timber and may need to use the vacuum cleaner to clear dust from the hole - ideally, you want to blast some air down the hole (but mind your eyes... ask how I know...) so that you have a clean hole for the resin. Gun the resin in, then insert your threaded rod. Leave to go off before tightening up otherwise you'll simply wind the rod back out of the resined hole... Looks a good shed though!
  17. Goes over yer head and scrunches around your neck to keep warmth in and cold out... Cracking bit of kit when laning (possibly the anticipated use) but equally good for dog walking, out on site (in my instance) when you want something far less bulky than a scarf. Also good if you ride a bike... that annoying space between the bottom of your crash helmet and the top of your jacket... 'Nuf said?
  18. The other thing is you will need an Operator's Licence if you are towing for Hire and Reward...
  19. Parker steel could well be worth a try as they have a retail counter in Northampton but nowhere near as accommodating as Bilsons IMHO
  20. Not Wellingborough, but try Billson Steel in Kettering. I think they keep a bin of off cuts for sale to local land rover owners.... Good luck!
  21. @daisy90... You have just summed up my time at Newbury!
  22. At risk of offending others, I'm going to suggest another forum... Jump onto the Northants 4x4 site ( northants4x4.com ) and post a help wanted request for Scott-ie-dog He's not a million miles away and may even have a disco box in for you... I know he's breaking one right now....
  23. 7th April... We'll be there - aim being to sell our tat and then see about buying someone else's stuff...
  24. I think the uk site chargers out at slightly higher than the actual toll fees - there is an alternative using www.aprr.fr which takes you to a French website... They charge 10 euros as deposit for the tag and then a service charge of 1.50 euros per month used... There is no charge for unused months and all toll charges are billed in the month following use. We have used ours for two years and it really does help with the process - less queues and no issues with passengers having to wake for toll booths...
